No. Boucher is a good perimeter shooter.

However, he is as thin as a paper.

He can be compared with Precious only because both can play as Center/PF and block shots.

We can't acquire Boucher unless we trade Precious and I'm not trading Precious for Boucher.

Or even Mitch for Boucher for that matter.

We can do better.

Just trade Sims for Diabate on the Hornets or Javonte Green on the Pelicans. That's probably the best case scenario.

We really don't have any wing players on the bench, though. Awful.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I also think while Turner is a good player he may not be as ideal a fit as some people think he is. His defense is not what it once was. He's kind of reverted to an offense-first stretch 5 instead of being a rim protecting menace like he once was. Some of that may have to do with the Pacers philosophy of simply outscoring teams and playing a more up and down style as opposed to a grind it out halfcourt game they used to play before Hali and Carlisle arrived. Maybe this is where having Thibs as your coach can help unlock some of the hidden value in a guy like Turner? But his rim protection numbers have sharply declined since Carlisle took over. If you want a comparison point, his DFG% within 6 feet is basically identical to Precious who is much smaller than Turner. That has nothing to do with scheme IMO. He's just somehow gotten way worse at protecting the rim when given the opportunity to do so.

Ideally, if you're moving Towns to the 4 for the majority of his minutes, to me, you're doing it with the idea that the trade-off would be much more elite defense from the 5 and that you can live with Towns not rebounding as much since he'll be more out of position. Is Turner that anymore? You'd have to have faith that Thibs could coax that out of him. He's also an awful rebounder for his size. He only gets 7 per game. On top of all that, the collateral damage of this trade would be moving Hart to the bench who, to me, has been our 3rd best player. You lose his rebounding with this unit as well.

It could work but, the Knicks would basically be tapped of assets to get it done and I'm not sure how much better Turner makes us.

If we're looking for rim protection, I think you could find it in cheaper ways without including Deuce or just hope that Mitch can come back healthy and provide it for 15-25 minutes a night.

I think the eye test from last year's Pacers series is enough for me to overlook any advanced analytics on what Turner's on-court impact could be.

I would contest with what would that on court impact have looked like had we had Mitch pounding the offensive glass or Randle's constant attacks or OG fully healthy?

Knicks looked very likely to win the series before OG went down.

Again, not saying Turner is a bad player. He isn't. I just don't know exactly if what he would currently add to this team is worth

A) The price
B) The fundamental change it would make to our team. Mainly no more or very limited KAT at the 5 minutes and Hart to the bench.

I wouldn't be completely against it but the FO would have to be sure this would help make us true title contenders.

This is interesting but man how do you do it?

I don't see any way its doable unless one of Mitch (14M) or Achiuwa (6M) is in the deal. And if Achiuwa another 4.8 needs to be added. It will be hard to piece that 4.8 unless Duece (4.7) is involved.

To me its if Knicks think Mitch is worth giving up at this point giving him up and other stuff is probably better than a healthy Achiuwa and McBride

Many ppl forget to factor in the new CBA and slary matching when they throw out these ideas. Turner is at 19.9

That will take either Mitch (14.3) + McBride (4.7) + 1 mill filler OR Both Mitch + Achiuwa (6M) as the main salary pieces of the deal.

I guess its possible but I doubt they would give up 3 years of McBride and 2 years of Mitch for Turner. Maybe the 2nd deal though.

Until he signs a new contract or is traded to another team.. I'm always going to connect him to the Knicks. Why? Cause the Leon Rose front office has shown, is that when they want to acquire someone they do.

His salary this season is $19.9m so it would take Mitch and either a) Deuce and Dadiet or b) Achiuwa to match.

Mitch/Achiuwa and the Washington pick doesn't sound like enough to land Turner..

or maybe it could be Mitch Achiuwa and Deuce for Turner and (insert guard/wing making less then 5.1m)

Nevertheless, it remains something to watch

Salary wise, NY can make this happen with Mitch + Precious. They would shed about $389,000 in payroll which should leave them with enough room to add another vet min to round out the roster. Plus it pushes the team into the 2nd apron next year and sets up a 3 run there. But, it might be worth it:

Brunson/Bridges/Anunoby/Towns/Turner
Payne/McBride/Hart

The depth is still concerning, especially in the front court, but that top 6 is as good as any in the league.

Best trade deadline outcomes imo:

1) Kessler +Sexton
2) Turner
3) one of the Pelicans’ top two wings
4) Poeltl
5) the Pelicans’ third wing, Javonte Green
6) Stewart

7) one of the Magic big men, especially WCJ or Wagner but I doubt any one of them is available.
8) Boucher
9) Valanciunas, but he’s an afterthought as Mitch is clearly the much better fit.

Oh, or bring back DiVincenzo, of course :D

You get two years out of Poetl vs just a rental in Turner. Both are at similar salaries too.

Ainge is not making that trade with the Knicks. It's too balanced. He'll demand 3 firsts.

Just how big is the delta between Sextons D and McBrides D?

Turner drains three-pointers at a 39.3 3P% and averages 2.0 bpg. My brain melts imagining that output next to Towns, OG, Bridges or Hart and Brunson. Also overall, I think he’s the better player. I love them both, but let’s be real: they aren’t available. It has to be Kessler. He’s the one.

Watch Utah. Sexton tries on defense but he literally dominates every game for them. He’s in the middle of every action and he’s rock-solid as well as efficient. Just turned 26.
