When the trade deadline is over, I might jump on this bandwagon unless we have a trade for a replacement center ready to be inked.

LeBron might demand a trade to Cleveland after this. We needed a center over another LeBron. Luka and LeBron do similar things. We had a top three defensive big in AD and needed more size.

Spineless of Rob to ink this deal. It made us worse now. It ruins LBJ’s chances at another championship.

Another jersey sales move.

I’ll expect us to be like the suns with Nash and Stoudamire while Luka is here. Never any cigars because no defense. Maybe I’ll check out for a decade.

I am stunned....Rob better have other trades lined up to balance out the roster.

Now we can risk offering more for Kessler. Heck go after Jokic with LeBron...lol

Indeed, time for me to eat crow. That being said, every single poster on this board would have made the trade. It isn’t a hard job if you’re offered Luka without having to compete with any other team in the league. The real test is how he rounds out the roster in coming days. But without a doubt, we just saved the future of this franchise and also importantly took all the power and leverage out of lebron and klutch sports hands. He can’t force us to do anything anymore

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

I'm having such Mitch Kupchak vibes with Pelinka: Putting together a retirement home team: check; Trading for a washed star to fail miserably: check; Grabbing a superstar for a huge discount: check

considering the Mavs handed us this one (I do recognize partially because of Nico and Rob's tight relationship from Kobe), I'll wait to see if we end up with any legit starting centers. Doesn't need to be spectacular, just solid and a great fit without gutting our future. Still would love Kessler, but still very doubtful we can pull that.

I'm torn with the trade. Dallas is a complete team now with AD, Kyrie and Klay. That team can compete.
For the Lakers, We got worse defensively by losing Ad and Max but we got bigger as we also got Maxi and Morris. The problem is I think Luka and LeBron kinda have the same playing style. Both ball dominant.
The upside for the Lakers is Luka is younger than AD and I hope this motivates Luka to get in shape.
I hope Lakers make another trade that could somehow get us another defensive big.

Yeah, nothing changed here. I'm not sure I make that trade with Dallas, tbh. I like that Luka is 25. I think I'd therefore be able to flip him for more picks than AD...so in that respect, maybe I do it. Especially since Luka is no longer eligible for the super max...his contract will be considered a bit of a "deal". I tell ya....If the Lakers had the guts to resign Luka, and then trade him for a ton of picks, MAN I would be impressed. But I think we all know that's not the plan.

High volume shooter.....super ball dominant. Obviously gifted on offense...but a complete liability on defense. Not sure this is the cornerstone you want for your team....looks straight up bloated sometimes.

Business-wise, this is great. Lots of hooplah, the Lakers get the star player again...jersey sales...all that good stuff. But let's see them actually build something half decent now. Otherwise we're right where we were.

Pelinka masterclass

Kept the trade secret for weeks, even Danny Ainge didn't know it was a AD for Luka trade until 30 minutes till the end

Negotiated Knecht, 2031 FRP out of the deal.

Hell even got Dallas to kick in a SRP to give Utah the incentive to take on JHS

Not gonna lie, this poster and probably just a few others have made me entirely avoid the lakers board for years now, sucks.

The negativity is crazy.

Sorry to hear that. I’ll leave. Thought opining was okay. I love the lakers, am generally optimistic.

I believe in defense and running the break. Showtime was defense first. Defense wins rings, not jersey sales.

If that’s how you feel, I’ll be happy to stay away from your board.

I sure do hope Luka plays defense. JJ might reach him. I’m coming around to the signing now when we DO have a center.

Losing AD was a BIG F deal for those of us who intently watch defense. But I guess if you’re trading a defensive big for an offensive small, this is a good exception. Luka is indeed a generational talent.

Cheers, Doc!

Stan keep doing you, props for that. The Negative Legacy of the Russ trade was written strong on Robs Resume, and those are facts. But The Gift from the Mavericks and Mark Williams was the Hail Mary pass well accept and take every day of the week. Rob has redeemed himself. We are alive again. Also, the G Board is a constant Hate the Lakers fest. Laker Fans can't get an inch in without some random Haterade drinker trollin a thread, this is your place, you good here. And lastly, it is True, AD was playing exceptional Basketball these last coupla years, before this last injury. But ultimately, even his improved play was insufficient. Luka ushers in a new era of excitement for Laker Fans.
