Yeah sorry, these guys are idiots. As much as they **** up the narrative this year, I don't blame Embiid one bit for the injuries. Can't control a lot of this, and he just has the absolute worst luck. This is honestly trash.

Agree they they’re over the line.

But I believe injuries are a mix of luck and genetics. In Embiid’s case, it seems primarily genetic with a bit of bad luck. He’s always been physically fragile, and this was evident even before he entered the league.

Absolutely it's funny because he hit the genetic lottery as a physical freak, and an absolute savant in being able to accumulate skills at a staggering rate, but his body is more fragile than a potato chip.

Quoting this clown? Really?

Stephen A credibility or lack there of for the things he says is literally in doubt nationally right now for too many things.

ESPN should drag that negotiation out a bit longer, may be a bad idea

Negotiation for what? Sorry, I haven't watched any of this kind of garbage for probably 25 years.

I'm stunned that anyone actually takes anything this guy says remotely seriously, but maybe I shouldn't be given the dreck that passes for "analysis" these days.

Supposedly he's getting $120 million for 6 year extension from Disney's ESPN

Today’s mass media strategy: Deliver 20% of your point, then amplify it 5-10x with an outrageous take to grab attention.

It's gotten to be too much truly, especially with this guy riding the fence in the sports world where if you watch his show he clearly can't keep track of the actual details he's discussing. For him to bring that to the political world because he saw that in a election year, it brings YouTube views... Is just dumb

Yep, in sports, politics, and entertainment.

Look at the people making the big money and they all fit that profile, except some, like Smith, rarely have enough of a point to deliver 20% of it.

Joel is not the guy.

The sooner everyone realizes that, the better.

My guess is he could play right now but they want to make absolutely sure that he'll be near 100% in the playoffs for the first time of his career. He'll pop in every so often to play games and work on chemistry, but the "swelling" issue will keep him out a lot of games. I think they saw the Heat make their runs as a lower seed and felt they can do the same if everyone is healthy. That's my not so conspiracy theory.

Not buying that theory at all. It's wishful thinking.

Given the evidence is way more likely he's completely cooked.

That's all he has been complaining about the past two years. Then he comes out in full uniform to do warmups and there's been videos of him doing handstands in practice. He's probably fine to play right now but the team wants one shot of him in the playoffs at 100% health.

IF this conspiracy theory is true, it's imperative to get the right first-round matchup.

May need to tank the 7-8 play-in game so we can go for the 8th seed and get Cleveland instead of Boston, followed by the winner of the 4-5 matchup.

That would be absolutely pathetic.

And they’d still get smoked by Cleveland, one meaningless game in January notwithstanding.

Couple things here. First, with all due respect, Joel doing handstands in practice is hardly an indication he’s ready to participate in a full NBA game lol. Secondly, this organization is dumber than I already suspect if they really think they can deliver Joel to the playoffs not having played consistently and expect to do anything. That is absolute foolishness and it’s why Joel/FO came out some weeks ago saying back2backs were back on the table. Joel is not Jimmy Butler and damn sure no Kawhi. He does not have a plug n play type of game. He will just “show up” and lead a team to didly squat.

I'm not saying the handstands are an indication he's ready, I'm just saying he's not really restricting himself from activities if there's a real concern of reinjuring his knee; particularly if there are cameras all over the place. He's been out for a month and remains out for the next 2 games? I don't know, if I'm wanting the optics to be I'm not ready to play, I wouldn't be screwing around.

The final two points don't really matter tbh. The FO doesn't look at Embiid in terms of "is he Jimmy Butler or Kawhi". They are looking at this like "we've seen our MVP play like one or two healthy playoff rounds in his entire career; lets mitigate the risk and try to waltz into the playoffs with a fully healthy roster". They've gone every other route of dealing with his proneness to injuries; it's not surprising they're taking this approach.

Let Joel play a couple of weeks, claim knee soreness, have him sit 2-3 weeks. I don't think it matters in the end, but it's an interesting approach I guess. All they have to do is make the play-in games. I also don't think matchups matter. If they aren't able to make noise with a healthy-ish Embiid, PG, and Maxey, then what's the point of this team? Just trade PG and Embiid this offseason.

Whatever the “plan” is; if it involves relying on Embiid to anchor the team to a playoff series win against the Cavs or the Celtics, it’s a loser.
