I mean, he's quite literally obligated to play for them. It's in his contract, the thing that allows him to get paid what he does.
Maybe, but a max contract extension is worth a helluva lot more than his current deal, so you can’t really blame him for not wanting to honor it.
I 100% can because, again, he signed a contract stating that he would play to the best of his abilities for X amount of time. He didn't have to have a long contract, and could have opted for a shorter one to secure one more big deal. He took the safer route.
I get that the majority of us are anti-corporation, and for good reason, but this isn't one of those examples for us to die on this hill. Butler was considered a malcontent who arguably hurt his teams as much as he helped them. Him and Miami had a mutually beneficial relationship where he rehabbed his name value while he took the team to heights they didn't think possible with that roster. That doesn't mean you suddenly bail at the end though just because you recouped some value and want to cash in. Miami as an organization is part of the reason you're even in the convo to receive that. If you go to another team with more lax policies and rosters that either conflicted with you on a personal level or your game, and you don't make the finals twice, his value would be perceived as less.
