Re: 2024-25 Season Discussion and Speculation Part III
One thing that has been pointed out in multiple places that I think rings true...for a lot of trades but especially a 3- or 4- or 5-team deal to actually get done, at least one party is going to do something that many others don't think they should do (within reason, of course). And that absolutely happens pretty frequently.
Almost everyone hated the Caruso-Giddey deal for Chicago, that got done. Most thought the Raptors should've prioritized draft capital in the OG-to-NY deal, they didn't get a single 1st. Nobody really thought the Blazers giving up multiple 1sts for Avdija was a great idea, that happened. The Kings were chided for giving up on Haliburton for Sabonis, but they did it. If Toronto ends up with Ingram as rumored to be a possibility, that will definitely not be something most folks think is a good idea.
Each front office is comprised of a few people who have their own subjective opinions/motivations for what they want to do, so it doesn't take the entire country to think something is a good deal, just those couple of folks. There is an undefined line in the sand where it's unreasonable obviously, but if there is a perspective that is somewhat unpopular but has some semblance of sense (defining this being the toughest part), it may not be necessary to totally dismiss it.

Nurkic for Rui.
That'd be pretty solid! Are the lakes able to do this trade though? Can't remember if they're also a 2nd apron team like us after their trades.
They are $3m under so they can package players. Nurk for Rui/BRONNY works 8

Yeah, I no longer see Avdija as a viable trade target. He just dropped 30 points against the Bucks and the Blazers have currently won 5 of their last 6 games. I don't think Thybulle is much of a difference maker at this point in his career either.
Robert Williams would be a nice addition, more than Duop Reath. Patrick Williams I would take as a last resort, but Suns would have to be getting a pick swap in their favor in order to take back his lengthy contract. Larry Nance Jr is seemingly always injured, otherwise I wouldn't mind him as a backup. Cody Martin would be a solid rotational player off the bench, but I think we need another viable big. I don't even know who Sandro is and I can't pronounce his last name.
Other than that one random rumour, I never understood how he was ever viable. Deni is too good and has far more value than what we're willing to give up

Can we go in there and get Andrew Wiggins lol. I wouldn't mind him on our team!
Between DA and Wiggins, you seem to really like your disappointing, inconsistent effort players.

Rui...well if we're trading Nurkic that's fine. I don't like Rui very much as a player. Sure as hell beats patrick Williams though. Can occasionally play small ball 5 and like at least stand at the perimeter when doing that, which is an interesting ripple that Robert Williams cannot do. Another lob threat.
Any way to get Lonzo Ball? He's a $20m expiring but his advanced metrics look good lol. But I haven't followed the bulls this year so it could be noise. But afaict he's the best pg on that team. Adds a passing threat who doesn't need to shoot.
Maybe some way to split up the picks into Williams/Lonzo/Rui without moving Allen. Brings us good size off the bench. Maybe some of these guys you might not even need to trade a pick.
Also makes us even more of a hospital ward but hey beggars can't be choosers. You have to admit it'd be kind of amusing if all of Booker/KD/Beal/Williams/Lonzo went down. As Plankton would say...in a cosmic sort of way.
Can't see how you're getting all that done without moving Allen. Also, Ball makes too much money to be in a deal for Nurkic or Allen so the only way he happens is in a trade for Beal (so y'know...nope lol)
I do think there's a world where RWIII and Rui could come in using Nurkic, Allen, pick(s).
Trading Allen is a big mistake imo he is really good. Best player of RWIII/Rui/Allen. Rui is not in the same plane of existence as Allen either. Honestly would prefer RWIII and keep Allen instead of Rui, then look elsewhere, if at all possible.
I can see RWIII overtaking Allen as a player on a real team that isn't coached by Billups though.
Rob Williams has played 58 games....over the past 3 seasons combined. If you're moving Grayson for him, you're moving Grayson for a benchwarmer because that's where Rob's gonna be more times than not.

Magic can offer a better package for Fox. Second Riley will get fired if he only gets Bruce Brown.

Just say no to Rui Hachi-moron
He had 1 good playoff game against the Nuggets and casuals just hype him up like he is a real Jokic stopper. He is one of the worse perimeter defender on that Lakers squad, bad at screen navigation, bad at on-ball defense, bad at guarding the post too. He spooked Jokic for 5 minutes with AD covering his behind, Jokic sees food when he sees him. Maybe the Lakers defense make him look worse than he really is but he can't guard no one, below average rebounder at his position and his offense is inconsistence at best. He is at his best when cutting and taking slower opposing PF to the rim, I don't think we have the passing and spacing to utilize him.

Is he playable compared to Nurk is the question

Why are we helping a division rival is the more important question.

That's probably the #1 reason it doesn't happen but putting that aside, is Rui more playable than Nurk right now and moving forward?

I understand this argument and I'm sure the Lakers see it as well.
I just don't see Rui help us in improving our defense and rebounding, and he always play soft, which could compound on this team

Why is it that every trade has the Suns sending three, THREE, First round picks for Butler?
Do these people really think he is worth that at this stage of his career? I get they are later in the first round picks but still --

I have been cock blocked my entire life. Another reason why I despise Beal with passion. He seems like a good dude, but cock blocking is where I draw the line.

Beal thinks that a contender wants him on their team. He will be lucky to find someone to take his contract.
He has done absolutely nothing his entire career and has done even less on the Suns.
