I like the underlying logic, just think LaVine creates more problems with us than he fixes.

but he’s having the best season of his career (right after the worst season of his career and quit on his team…)

Khris has quit on this team. He’s been medically cleared all season. Love the player he used to be, but it’s insane the rose colored glasses he is being viewed with in 2025. He’s doing his best Corey Maggette impression on a (not quite nightly because he barely plays) basis.

Love will actually do what is required of his role in the playoffs - shoot only wide open threes, move the ball otherwise, rebound, and try to take charges to protect the rim. Bobby will want his post ups, take some awful midrange jumpers that he makes at a low percentage, force the Bucks to play zone to hide him on D, and maybe get ejected from a game.

Bobby is great for his regular season role of points off the bench and filling in when Giannis is out. But he’s not a great postseason player and he’s only on a good contract until this offseason when he’s opting out and getting paid.

If anyone wants to the Bucks locked into the second apron just to have another year of Midds rarely playing and Bobby on a brand new market rate deal, I don’t know what to tell them.

When you say it like that we really have to make a deal.

Just do Pat to Detroit along with the 2031 second for whatever low salary guy they want to dump. Then Midds/Bobby/AJ Johnson for Jimmy/Love.
Release whoever you get from Detroit, sign Rollins and whoever you think are the best two free agent big men out there as extra big man insurance.

Paul Reed sitting the bench for Det you could get a big right there. Played 20 mins a night for a playoff team just last year, only like 25 years old. No idea how he's been this year or if anything is up with him, but theres a blah back up big man right there as a throw in

Reminder DDV looked like a super injury plagued player who wanted so much money he had to take a prove it deal with GSW to get a contract. But in retrospect that deal sucked.

We discussed the Crowder deal in the last thread and fairly certain (someone correct me) the deal ended up more about offloading salary to make the deal and then it was like two seconds for Jae (again, pulling from memory).

I think we were pleasantly surprised at nabbing Dame for less than expected despite the board here fearing the worst.

We also traded for Jae in a time before the 2nd apron and 2nd rounders were thrown around like nothing. 5 was an overpay but were not far off from spending 4 on mirotic, and we recouped those pretty fast.

those were the two trades he made that everybody didnt universally want to have his baby but even then...crowder the whole board wanted and maybe we overpaid. and the ibaka thing.... we had sucked so hard with lopez out we were desperate not to punt the entire season. i kinda get that one too even tho it was baaad in retrospect i get not punting a season in the giannis era. if that desperation trade was his worst trade.. maybe his only bad trade.....that can be forgiven

i feel if khris has any value whatsoever he'll find it. the one thing im now saying is.....he needs to go because hes ****'ed. and we have a shot. whatever we can get out that asset...if its even an asset....now is the time

i completely admit it. i still love the man but a massive pivot on my part. a wicked 180. i hope he comes back at the minimum whenever we can get him and he fiddles around the way jason terry did at the end. he retires here and we raise his banner. id retire his number a year after hes done.

but look at the last 3 games and the team in general. were 1-2 this trip and the man is cooked. hes done. COOKED is an understatement. when he feels kinda good...rarely now...we cook. but when hes stiff...we lose to anybody....thats more often and long stretches.

thats not a guy you look giannis and dame in the eye and say go do your thing with.

we have the ability to compete this year. maybe not for a championship...but for a run. we CANT allow oursleves to go out the same we we have the last several years with a guy who just cant get right this far into the season. i love khris. i absolutely love him.....

but if he has value.....we need to move on. im broken over it but i feel im on the right side of history if i support it. and IF horst moves him...i trust him. that was the point i was trying to make. i believe if we move khris its not just the right move its a GOOD move.

Someone posted Jimmy could be our Rasheed Wallace trade.

That might be the most applicable best case scenario I’ve heard!

But then I learned Sheed was only 29 when he was traded midseason to the Pistons.

Jimmy is just so old.

Oh, I’m with you.

I adore Khris and think he’s absolutely a Milwaukee Bucks legend. He’s a champion, and when the chips have been down in the past he’s an absolute warrior.

I love him.

That clippers game broke me, though. Prior to that I had been interested in the Jimmy proposals, because I thought Jimmy was even better than “heathy” Khris and would plug some of our holes, but not many of the other trade targets. After that game I thought we urgently needed to move him.

Looking back at the Indy series, he was awesome, but if I remember correctly, he re-sprained both ankles in that series and was limping pretty profusely. Even if we had advanced, the chances of him being able to keep it together for 3 more rounds seems almost impossible.

He’s a guy who’s declined athletically some, but worst of all, he doesn’t trust his body anymore, and we’re seeing more games where he struggles to move than ones where he’s moving well.

Our championship team beat the hell out of the league with a “We dogs” mentality.

That changed of course with Jrue for Dame. Part of what’s most appealing for me about trading for Jimmy is he theoretically could bring it back.

Then again I’m most intrigued about LaVine’s potential for us to bring something new.

Giannis hasn’t ever played with an athlete like LaVine. And it’s kind of crazy the Greek Freak has spent his prime almost entirely on old slow teams.

Heat would want a sweetener to do the deal immediately instead of waiting to see if the Warriors can turn Wiggins into something else or the Suns can bully Beal into waving his NTC to Chicago or something.
I’d rather hold onto the 2031 pick than hope AJ Johnson figures things out before Giannis declines. Especially considering the 2031 pick would have to be unprotected unless they have another pick it can become if the protections kick in. In this case the 2031 second would be the only option but that has to go to Detroit to unload Pat.

Plus the 2031 pick could be used in the future and will get more valuable as time goes and Giannis ages.

According to an NBA source familiar with the situation, multiple teams have been working on potential trade constructs that would work either in the moment or ahead of next Thursday’s 3 p.m. deadline.

While indications until this latest suspension had been of a singular preferred landing spot of the Phoenix Suns by Butler, in part because of the belief the Suns would be willing to offer a maximum extension upon acquisition, several other trade partners at least now appear to be in the discussion.

Included in that group are the Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies. In addition, a party familiar with the process said that several other teams appear willing to work as potential conduits, such as the Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors, with the Philadelphia 76ers also possibly part of such machinations.

Horst has put himself in a pretty tough spot. I really don't think we can keep Middleton or the Bobby/Brook tandem. And I really don't think you can trade the 2031 pick to help with either of those things.
