Do professional sports players have less affinity for nice weather than other people?

Insanely wealthy NBA players usually don't. The Knicks are a premier destination with weather as cold as Chicago, so is Boston. Charlotte NC has great weather & beaches, it's not a FA destination. The entire argument about weather & better looking women for a team destination seems based on how normal people live and a bit out of touch with how NBA players live their lives. I worked with an MVP candidate (never MVP) for a sponsorship deal. His team was a cold weather city. It was mostly irrelevant because

- during the season, they travel 50% of the time anyway
- offseason (which is most of the year) he went one of his many homes in Maui, Florida, etc..
- while traveling his women were flown to the visiting team city anyway, it's not like he has to go out partying in that town to pick up a woman

It matters to Beal apparently, or it could be just nonsense and Beal just vetoed the deal because Chicago isn't a contender which is what he always said he'd do.

If you think Charlotte NC has beaches, you've obviously never been there! LOL

LA is on fire, and players are like "yeah give me that"

As a millionaire, if you wanted to, you'd never have to spend more than 30 seconds outside at any given time. Are these players that much of outdoor enthusiasts?

Exactly using cold weather as an excuse is bs. First of all basketball isn’t played outdoors, his work is inside where it’s nice and warm.

Then they travel all the time anyway, half the games home half away traveling the country. After around June they are free until September to be wherever the hell they want.

Besides professional basketball players don’t play in the NBA for their whole lives, most are done by mid 30s.Thats why makes no sense why these players car so much about hot weather when it’s just temporary.

Most people work indoors yet prefer warm climates. Have you looked at the past couple of decades of US migration patterns?

Trying to deny that people prefer nice weather is really something.

The biggest reason why no one wants to come to the Bulls is the state of the organization and quality of the team. I really don’t think the weather makes much of a difference. If the Bulls had a better organization and team Chicago would be a great destination for NBA players.

We lack direction right now. I’ll concede that. But I don’t think that makes us a bad organization as a whole. In fact, from a player perspective, there are very few organizations in the league that have proven to be more loyal to their players than us. Heck, we are loyal almost to a fault. One could make the argument that because of the loyalty that we’ve shown to players and rosters, that is what has led us to where we are right now.

Idk….maybe we should get on script with most of the other teams and not be so loyal to what’s not working. It certainly seems more conducive to enhancing the perception that we have now.

That was exactly the point as well as the draft picks, it's a tank move.

I'm not excited about tanking but it seems like a good move in this way .Can we get a 1st round pick in this trade ?

Let's not use Bradley Beal as a weather vane for how all NBA players feel

Agreed. Lonzo, Caruso, and DDR were happy to join us when we were a meh team. Our money still spends.

Right - I think the point here is Beal has already been paid and wouldn't make any extra money by waiving his NTC. In that instance, a guy might say "yeah, I'd rather be in Phoenix in the winter time." Weather is a factor against the Chicago market, but money is the #1 factor in most instances. You generally only get into the other desirability factors (weather, talent level of team, who the coach is, etc.) as tie-breakers if the money is going to be the same with your available options.
