Re: Ace Bailey
6'10 shot creator who also plays defense.
Might be the best scorer in this draft. The scary part he's creating his own shot with a weak handle. My goodness if this kid improves his ball handling he goes from Rashard Lewis to KD.
I think he's in that #2 spot because of his size. This is shaping up to be a good draft.

Yeah I’m trying not to be a prisoner of the moment, but I always liked him cause he’s so toolsy, athletic and long, and has passion for the game, but his development has been hella impressive in a short period and has looked better without Harper taking pressure off him.
I’ve also had question marks on what Harper will be like in relation to team building 5 years from now.
To me I don’t think you pass on Ace at 2, and Harper is firmly cemented into 3.
After that it’s a major tossup with like 5 guys.

I am getting towards a smaller Dirk Nowitzki comp. Someone please talk me out of it. I can’t unsee it

Dirk had a pretty wide frame. Ace is much narrower.
Think Rashard Lewis as a medium, Durant'lite as ceiling and Tim Thomas as lower outcome IMO.

I think Kasparas is pretty clearly #4. I think the tossup starts at #5 and its really only bt 2 guys.
1. Flagg
2. Ace
3. Harper
4. Kasparas
5a VJ or Tre
5b VJ or Tre
7. Fears
8. Demin
9. Essengue
10. Sorber
Thats my Top-10 right now.

makes what Bailey is doing even more impressive with defenses locked in on him and him alone.

Re: Ace Bailey
Bailey in Big10 games - 22 pts, 9 rebs, 2 blocks on 47% FGs and 45% 3pt. 71% FTs on the season now and is 26-29 in his last 6 games and 14-14 in his last two. 21 and 8 on 48% FGs and 41% from three over the entire season.
Brandon Miller was SEC player of the year as a frosh and #2 overall pick in a pretty strong draft. Ace Bailey is two years younger than Miller was at Alabama and has been better as a frosh. let that sink in for a moment.

This is what I’m thinking too.

I’d be super excited if the Nets windup with him as a consolation to Flagg. They might very well go down in the vein of Curry and Harden that draft.

Facts!
As someone who was high on Miller this kid Bailey has even more potential. At worst he's gonna be a slightly taller Miller. However due to his height and defensive ability he has a higher ceiling than Miller imo.
Let this sink in this kid is arguably the best scorer in this draft and he has yet to develop his handle.

If he improves his handles it's game over for the league. Nobody in this draft has a higher ceiling than Bailey imo.

He hit a couple of nice jump hooks last game. I can't remember him trying that earlier in the season. Finishing inside has been a problem area for him so if he adds a reliable jump hook that will make a big difference.

He's literally been playing in the post all season lmao.
Jump hook? Bro he's not a center this dude is wing kind of player. You living in 1990 bro talking about hook shots for a 6'10 wing.

It's better than that fadeaway shot he's been taking when he shoots about 10 feet farther away than he started.
At times he has faded so far back he is near the 3 pt line when he finally shoots it.
Finishing inside has been a problem for him all season. If he is comfortable with that shot it could be a big help when he can't get all the way to the rim.

You reaching here bro. You want to see post hooks is insane to me. You must be a 80's baby?

That is a nasty ass move for a wing, his bag is going to be Grand Canyon deep by his 4th season.

So because he did it you want to see it more consistently?

This kid is underrated if you ask me. I'm more surprised that's he's one of the best scorers in the country with a weak handle. That tells me his potential is through the roof when he can get buckets this easily without having a consistent handle.
He's Rashard Lewis right now, but has KD potential if he can improve his handle. That's a scary good prospect. Literally no bust potential with Bailey imo.

.
Of course. Finishing inside has been a weak spot all season.
He isn't big enough to bully his way to the rim so he has to find a way to finish when the defense cuts him off. If he is comfortable with a jump hook then go for it.

Re: Ace Bailey
his handle isn't as weak as people are saying it is. totally overblown. he struggled with his handle some at the beginning of the season and a narrative developed. it's just not that bad. of course it isn't perfect, but for a guy his size and age, he's fine. you don't average 21 ppg on almost all unassisted shots - you're creating everything for yourself - if your handle is horrible.

I'm in the bag for Ace and think he gets critiqued more harshly than other prospects but his handle was super suspect to start. He's gotten more confident in and and it has gotten a lot better as the szn has progressed which is a really good sign but it was almost as if he was afraid to put the ball on the ground early on.
Definitely love the strides that he's made in that department and I think it's a really good sign moving forward. He's still only 18 years old, far from a finished product, and seems to have the requisite drive to succeed. Top 3 for sure IMO and trending very close to 2 for me.
