Huerter is 3s, 2s, full bag, defense and the pace Sabonis and Monk need. Very unselfish. It's not less (or more) than Fox can suggest, actually. Meanwhile the Fox trade can reinforce the bench incredibly, up to the contender status. Like Keldon, Vassel and, amusingly, Barnes.

Its hard to believe anyone who is not a Maryland Terrapin fan or related to Kevin is still on board with him, but the FO’s focus seems to on relocating him

Huerter being a system player or not doesn't mean jack for Fox. I'm not sure why you made that leap. Because Huerter's best season was next to Fox anyway.

#2. I'm literally looking over my should to see if I'm being punked right now. At no point has Malik Monk, doesn't matter how much I love the guy, is about to start producing triple-doubles. He has had 3 double doubles in the past 23 games. In those games the closest he has come to a trip dub is the 6 rebounds against Denver. He's probably had 2-3 other double doubles in his entire career. As I said, I love the guy, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. He is shooting a similar pace of TS% as Fox and there's this 1 guy that rags on Fox relentlessly for his TS%.
Anyway, most people have always stated Monk was the heart of the team. Doesn't mean he's the best player, better player or whatever. Haslem was the Heat's heart and soul too you know. Even outside of all that in this sentence, you opened with trading Monk would kill the team. I mean, what? Who said anything that the Kings need to? Or did I miss a previous post or something?

The Vassel part is just funny as F%$k. "that's the best what Kings seem to be able to get from the Spurs"
Not even going to go further TBH.

Good points, man. And you don't have to agree. The diverser opinions, the more eloquent the picture. Just buy me a beer when Malik makes his first triple-double ;)

I just didn't get the Vassel F%$k thing. I wouldn't call it a Vassel thing, in the first place. I would call it a Keldon thing, if anything. From my point of view, that's the most Kings-type player on SA roster. Anyway, who do you think Kings could get for Fox? Wembanyama? Castle? I think anything better than Keldon+Vassel+Barnes would be a steal for Kings. And why does it have to be San Antonio?

I admire Fox's talents, by the way. Find him unique.

No doubt. I admire your opinion and I will buy you more than a beer when Monk starts producing triple doubles, I'll buy you a pub.

The Vassel part is just funny as F%$k thing is just me thinking that's it's ROFL type stuff as him as the centre piece. I mean you have looked at the roster right?

Let me ask you this way. You are Monte McNair and you are going to trade Fox, who for some is regarded as a top 2-3 lifetime Kings player (some say #1) who is just about to enter his prime. You have the current roster to work with. Let's just pretend I'm Vivek and simply present the trade for me and why I shouldn't fire your ass in the off season if your plan doesn't come off, because the Kings HAVE to make the POs and be better positioned for the future with a Fox trade, who I (Vivek) have backed over the years and he (Fox) hasn't given a trade demand.

A tough task. I will hardly cope. Totally agree that they need to get the most out of the deal. But if the managers of the other teams have watched the Kings games as closely as I have been watching since Sabonis trade (which they obviously have), they might have noticed certain aspects of Fox's identity, which might not necessarily add to his undoubted value. The guy seems to have chosen Harden's or Beal's way. Fun to watch, crowd gatherer. But not a team player. Not a contender-builder. So, you might expect to be offered some similar individuality for him (even Edwards), meanwhile many managers would prefer team players over Fox's type. That's why I personally value Monk more than Fox, although the latter may seem more expensive. The team players are usually low-profile. That's why they are team players.

Your trade doesn't work financially, you'd have to expand the deal.

Vassel + Sochan or Castle works financially. Kings have an open roster spot to make the deal

Ok let me chime in. First I do not want to trade Fox but in the past we did not want to trade Jason Williams or Mitch Richmond. But without trading either of those we do not end up with Bibby (more consistent player than Williams) or Webber (cornerstone and a solid foundation) what if in order to get in a better position we have to move a piece of our heart as fans. Again I hate moving him but if we could get castle and a couple other players to help our bench plus a couple draft picks that give us the hope of a top lottery choice in the next couple years maybe puts us in an amazing position. I put it this way.. we have an A rated starters and a C- rated bench.. what if a trade of fox could create a B+ starters and increase our bench to B- .. would you do a trade?

That's the idea. Maybe even Fox's departure does not necessarily downgrade the starters. Depends on Huerter's condition. Or on whoever comes for Fox. Can be even solid A and B under certain circumstances. Actually, Kings had that two years ago. For Fox you can get either two other teams star starters (one of which maybe would have to be on the bench in Sacramento), or three reliable almost-stars (all of them would reinforce the bench), or a top-notch true center (who will finally win for Kings their first jump ball, which we will celebrate with lighting the beam).

This Fox trade discourse is just crazy to me when we're talking about getting Cam Johnson would take Devin Carter and a 1st but Castle is off the table for Fox? Like what are we actually talking about here?

Seen a lot of Spurs fans on twitter saying they would give Castle in a heart beat. Not the kind of guy you actually hold off the table for Fox.

This team is so dysfunctional.
Fox wants out
Reports Wilcox is actually running the show
Now Derozan on podcast saying that he came with Fox being a big reason, and basically hinting he would want out if Fox goes.. I hope Monte and crew just do something massive.

Actually I think most of us are extremely reluctant to include him and would prefer not to. I've also seen a lot of Spurs fans who would prefer to just develop Castle and not waste assets on Fox.

I'm kind of in the middle. I would be extremely hesitant to include him in any deals but it depends on what the rest of the package looks like.

I think I'd like to see something like: Vassell/Sochan/Johnson + 2-3 1sts and 2031 swap rights extinguished for Fox and Huerter. But admittedly that may be overly optimistic

Also, just want to say I feel bad for y'all. As a fan of a small market team who knows what it's like when your star player wants out, it sucks. Obviously Fox is not on the level of Kawhi and I don't think this well set SAC back years like it did for us but I always feel for the small market team's fans when this stuff happens

I just think if you move Fox you need at least one premium asset back in the deal and it would be between Castle or the ATL unprotected 1st and then you figure out the rest of the package from there. I just don't see middling filler (and I'm a fan of both Vassell and Sochan) and late firsts worth it, especially if you are still trying to remain competitive this year. If you do that, Derozan and Sabonis should be on the move for more assets this summer.

I want both Castle + 1 ATL pick. Beyond that IDC what else is included. Keep Vassell/Sochan, neither are needle movers.

Derozan should immediately be flipped to one of the LA teams the day we trade fox. Anyone who doesn't want to be here can go. Build a Rockets style team around Sabonis. Tons of athletic wings, long players. Castle, Keon, Keegan is a start.

To me none of the filler stuff matters to me.

Castle + Collins + Tre + ATL 1st + Sac 1st relinquished.

That should be agreeable to both. Spurs still have a treasure chest to work with. Still have Keldon/Barnes deals to get another stud. Still have Vassell/Sochan/Champagnie.

Kings take 2 upside home run swings, none of the filler. We either need a replacement for Fox or we go nowhere. Vassell aint changing the fortune, just locking us into mediocrity, but he's a good 4th piece in the eventual Fox/Wemby/3rd banana crew.

Realistically that is probably fair, value-wise. But including Castle AND the 2025 ATL pick...I just don't see SA going for it. Spurs have always been a conservative franchise and I get the feeling they really highly value that 2025 ATL pick. I'd suggest removing Castle if the sticking point is the 25 pick, or removing the 25 pick and changing it to some other variation of pick(s) instead and removing Castle

How upset would you be if this turns into a Jimmy for Fox/DDR trade.

How could he say so? There hasn't been a single game with anything even distantly similar to chemistry between him and Fox. Besides, now he will have all the clutch for himself. Just don't get it.
