We could be sitting here in the summer with over 60 million dollars in cap space, and potentially a 50+ million dollar trade exception if Butler opts out and we don't move him at the deadline.

Need to convey this pick this year if a move doesn't materialize we could tank next season and take on a bunch of really bad expiring deals next year for draft captial.

The early termination option is Duncan's, and I wouldn't expect him to terminate the contract unless the Heat are ready to sign him longer term at a lower but still healthy number ... which would once again be a mistake.

I do imagine that if Rozier got kicked out of the NBA for something like that and got his contract voided (assuming it was true, which I am not suggesting it is), it would not count to Miami's cap or tax bill.

The Jimmy Butler saga and his suspensions were very direct in the impact to tax bill, in that as the suspension was team mandated, it did not impact tax bill. It becomes a conflict of interest if a team can issue suspensions at their behest and positively effect their balance sheet. This is not that, the Heat are not involved. I would be surprised if the NBA could tell Miami that you cannot have the player, but you must still pay other teams a tax as though you had that player.

I don't think there's any such thing as a team ETO.

From Hoopshype

Only $9,888,000 guaranteed in 2025/26, HoopsHype has learned. Increases to full guarantee if his team doesn't waive him on or before two days after the end of 2025/26 moratorium period or if his team wins an NBA championship between 2022 and 2025 season and he achieves various minutes/games

For the record, I blame 3Hammy for Rozier just like I blamed Bishop for Waiters.

I believe that's two separate things. If Duncan exercises the ETO, he's a free agent and the Heat owe him $0 next season. If he declines the option then he's under a partial guarantee ($9,888,000) that converts to a full guarantee ($19,888,000) if the Heat don't cut him by a certain date.

Everyone but Herro and Ware are part of the criminal ring if judging by this season.

Could you imagine if that was the next headline? Black Sox scandal part 2. That would be tough to live down.
