Yeah at this point take the L. The front office did nothing wrong in honoring its word tons player. He stabbed them in the back that's clear ! **** Kuzma. He can go right along side beal in the I hope he orders a ten piece and gets 9 club. Trade him for anything that's a neutral return.

I think this is being spun more negatively than it was intended. Kuzma is basically saying that he was overthinking things too much when trying to fit into the system and he played better when he just tried to be himself. It's not a great thing that he has trouble trying to fit into the system, but I didn't take it as him meaning that he was somehow trying to deliberately sabotage the system and force a trade. I think he was just being honest in saying that the current system isn't really working for his specific skillset.

Plus, Kuz had a pretty good game against Phoenix, to be sure -- but it was by no means "a great game."

I see no reason for anyone to be mad at him, btw. He's never been a genuinely "good" player. Not in any of his 8 seasons. But overall he gives the impression of being a good guy. He gives back to his community. Does good things.

I wish him well. Hope someone will want him.

I didn’t hear Kuzma say these words but I have a tendency to agree with you. Given what I’ve heard and seen from Kuz in the past it’s uncharacteristic for him to say something selfish.

Exactly. Free the guy as good karma.

Don't get anything back but an open roster spot.

Count me in on that -- I've been unstintingly critical of Kuzma as a productive player, but he is obviously a thoughtful, well-motivated person.

Put simply, Kuzma isn't taking a backseat to the development process anymore if he has anything to say about it; he sounds willing to sacrifice how Coulibaly, Sarr and the others come along, as he will now expect the younger guys to defer and take a backseat to his individual production.

And you probably won't, as the good PR people at Monumental have gone back to edit out Kuzma's piece in the interview.

What Kuzma said was very much 'me' based, whether you deem that selfish or not is up to you.

He's trying to raise his game and raise his stock in the eyes of other teams, as I see it.

Seems to me we need to balance giving Kuz a chance to showcase his talents in order
to get the best possible return in trade vs giving the kids the greatest opportunity to
learn and develop. We've seen during his time here he is capable to having reasonably
productive games ie pretty good games, on a sporadic basis. He is also capable of
being not very good at all, especially wrt his offensive efficiency. That is how I
would describe his time as a player here in DC. If he is your 1st or 2nd option
on O, he's going to play you out of quite a few wins.

Agreed. He's got a few days to raise his stock; citing that he unwittingly altered his game to his detriment to accommodate the rookies would be the perfect spin if he can pull off a string of games like the one in Phoenix.

It'll look like Kuzma is the one running the program at the end of the day though because he pretty much told media that he's going to show a level of disregard for the current process in place, and then you have the org. obliging his desire to not be traded despite knowing there was high trade demand for him with other teams.

Maybe it's the crazy state of the world or the awful state of the Wizards, but I find myself compelled to write double dactyls about Kyle Kuzma. My second, after that in last night's game thread:

Higgledy-piggledy
Kyle freakin' Kuzma
Covered from neck to his
Feet in tattoos

If he is the best forward
On your whole roster
Most of your basketball
Games you will lose

Kuzma helped Deni develop. BTW, Kuzma's stats with Deni were 22.3 ppg, 6.6 rpg, and 4.3 apg.

So far this season, Kuzma is averaging 14.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, and 2.6 apg.

As much as I have criticized him, last night vs TOR, he at least bore
a vague resemblance to an NBA player. I still want him gone but the kids
have been really bad lately making Kuz look better by contrast.

He's also now a fixture on Shaqtin a Fool. First we had Javalllllleeee McGeeeeee, then Shaqtin A Poole, now Kuz. We truly are the gift that keeps on giving.

Like I said about Poole last year, when he's this putrid, you don't want to deal him. Move JV and Poole who are having above average career seasons if possible; keep Kuzma who is having his worst year and rehab him next year without Poole featuring himself.

I would do what we did to Poole and move him to the bench to try to push him to give a more consistent effort but I've been saying we shouldn't have both in the lineup together since we got Poole.
