From what I’ve seen/heard, no. Mann continues to nurse the disc irritation in his lower back, and the Hornets most recent update did not indicate a return to the court in the near future."
This whole thing is confusing. I thought they had already reported that he was going to have back surgery. Did they walk that back and are now trying to do non-surgical options again? Or is he still waiting to have the back surgery but he's okay movement wise to get shots up while waiting for surgery. And there was never really an elaboration on what kind of surgery it would be? Are we just talking about a cortisone shot in the disk or some type of nerve block shot? Or are we talking full on go in do a disk replacement to fix the bulging disk?
Not sure how many of you have had issues with bulging disks or herniated disks in your neck or spine. I had I had a disk rupture in my neck, C7, back in 2021. It was the most excruciating painful thing I've ever experienced in my life. I couldn't lay on my back. I couldn't lay on my stomach. I couldn't lay on my left side. I could only lay on my right side. I was getting maybe two hours of sleep a night. No amount of non opioid medicine could even begin to dull that pain. And the nerve pain was all the way down my left arm into the hand and it felt like my muscles were being clamped by a vice. I couldn't look up. I could only look down. I couldn't ride in a car without a bolster pillow on my spine and even then every bump in the road felt like a knife in the neck. This went on for about six weeks before I finally got a nerve block injection. Thankfully since the disk had ruptured it repaired itself and eventually the new disk slotted back into place in the right spot and I didn't have to have surgery. But I still have minor issues with that spot on my neck from time to time.
So I don't know what he or Mark went through with their bulging disk issues in their back. But if it was anything like when I went through then playing basketball was the furthest thing for my mind. But getting surgery at that age is obviously a scary thing when you're talking about anything in and around your spine.
