Denver/Atlanta

Post#1 » by nomansland » Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:50 am

I heard some podcasters talking about this potential trade and wondered if they're delusional. I sort of think they are but am curious what people here think.

Denver Out: Porter Jr., Nnaji
Denver In: Hunter, Bogdanovic

Why? They trade a starter for 2 lesser players and get out of Nnaji's deal. Hunter's a better defender than Porter and Bogdanovic strengthens the bench. Plus Jokic and Bogdanovic are friends.

Atlanta Out: Bogdanovic, Hunter
Atlanta In: Porter Jr., Nnaji

Why? Bogdanovic is injury prone and for some reason they've been looking to move both players (rumors anyway). Porter Jr. gives them a legit scorer and good rebounder who is a guy that must be guarded off-ball. Great combo with Young and they're friends. Nnaji is salary filler but he's been in Malone's jail forever and basically misused, so you never know.

These are some of the justifications they gave + a couple of reasons I invented.

So, are they delusional? If so, what would it take for Denver to sweeten the deal? Or is it DOA?

I like the trade for both teams. I wonder if Hawks would ask for Strawther too as a promising young player?

I don't include Hunter and that likely kills any deal unless Bog and Capela (exp) interests you

It's closer with Saric instead of Nnaji and it hinges on how you value Hunter, Bogi and MPJ, they looked like totally different players at different stages.
Hakws starting forwards are Johnson and Risacher, having a 3rd forward at 24/yr is different than at 40/yr...

I think subbing in Saric for Nnaji is a good idea.

I do think this helps this season for Atlanta obviously but then it’s kind of a weird situation next year. They’d all get enough minutes so it’s worth it, but which of them is coming off the bench? The promising 20 year old (at that point) or the really good player you’re paying 40 million dollars.. And are any of them happy coming off the bench like Hunter has been? I’d assume it’s easier for the room to bench the number 1 pick since he’ll still be getting 30mpg?

Hunter has played well. Not sure if he is included or if Atl takes nnaji. Atl could send seconds.

Maybe:
Den gets Bogdanovic, Nance, JeffGreen, 2 seconds from Atl and 2 seconds from Houston.
Hou gets Capela
Atl gets mph, Tate, Landale.

Den can attach a second to nnaji for JVal or similar if they wanted.
