No thanks to Mathurin.

Backup PG, wing defender, and an athletic big man before the deadline, please.

I don’t care if we only deal with minimum deals to get those player types.

We can’t go into a playoff run with an unproven PG in Rollins, despite his good season, and obviously not Delon Wright. With that being said, if we open up a roster spot in a trade, sign Rollins to a multi-year deal immediately.

Our only bench defenders can’t be AJ Green and Rollins. Another wing defender, either small forward or power forward, would be great.

We simply cannot roll out the Giannis-Brook-Bobby big rotation anymore. We need an athletic lob threat who can play solid defense and fight for rebounds consistently. I don’t care if we keep Bobby, we just have to find another big option to throw out there when Bobby and Brook don’t have it.

Filling those positions should be considered the bare minimum this deadline, big move or not.

MIL In: Drew Eubanks, lesser of UTA/CLE/MIN 2026 1st, 2028 CLE 1st unprotected

Utah gambles on the further out 1st and we dump enough salary to get below the 2nd apron. Maybe they'd need to get Cleveland involved to slap some protection on the pick, but shouldn't be too difficult.

I like the thinking here, but that unprotected 1st should bring a better return I’d imagine even if that’s a couple of later round seconds.

KOC discusses my Lillard for Fox/Keegan deal on today’s pod. Appreciate the shout out. But of course he thinks it so one sided in favor of the Bucks that he pairs it back and takes Keegan out and then has us sending the 2031 out.

Bucks talk starts at the 49 minute mark. He and Haberstroh think the Bucks should pursue Lavine.

Think all it means in this case is that they want to keep Turner and their owner is Herb Simon.

Yeah. Pacers are $2.9 in to the tax. I'm guessing the "player they like" will be someone making $4.3 million or less, as Mathurin makes $7.2 million.

His highest scoring month (20ppg on great volume and percentages) was………..

November of 2022 his rookie year. He’s never approached that month since. I don’t know what to make of that. In November 2022 he looked like the next Ray Allen.

Are you sure about this? BR has the numbers very different, including 19-7 this past November on good shooting.

You can audit my numbers. I used ESPN game logs since they sort by month. I may be in error.

If this is the kind of return that New Orleans is really willing to accept for Ingram, then I'm not sure why he isn't a guy we're focusing on more.

It's interesting, because from what I've seen, he's a great fit next to Siakam, but has never meshed with Hali. That's probably a big reason he's available and we'd probably want to dive into why that is before making an offer.

How’d you feel about Bobby + ‘31 1st for Mathurin + Jackson?

I know Jackson is out for the year, but we’d have his bird rights, and if he comes back at all the same player he was, he’d give us a big we could really use.

I suppose that doesn’t help Indy get under the tax, though. I just really liked Jackson when he was last healthy.

I think once the Butler trade happens it'll create a domino effect and right now I don't think the Heat have much incentive to trade him until Thursday.

I ask myself what has Mathurin actually improved or shown in skill development since he was a senior in high school, and that's where my worry would be. Taller Ben McLemore vibes.

With all the trade talk going on, I saw some guy mention that the Khris Middleton bobblehead promo game is no longer listed on the schedule...tin foil hat or actually something? Could even be a manufacturing issue.

Fox is one of the fastest guards in the league. His lightning-quick first step makes him a nightmare for defenders, allowing him to get to his spots with ease and collapse defenses to create shots for teammates. The Bucks haven’t had a point guard with that kind of burst since peak Eric Bledsoe.

I mean, when you have the chance to trade Dame for Peak Eric Bledsoe and re-create a homeless man's version of the 2019 Bucks, you obviously do it.

No, that’s Brian Sampson who does the Bucks Film Room account.

ChatGPT thinks we're well-positioned with our core of Giannis, Khris, and Jrue Holiday, but that we could make a move for a star if we're willing to part with young talents like Grayson Allen and Jordan Nwora.

KOC and Haberstroh way adamant:

Haberstroh:They have to make a move and they have to go get Zach LaVine. That’s the guy….

I think you dump [Khris’ contract] on some other team and put in that 2031 first round pick and you try to get Zach LaVine on your squad. He’s so good and I think he’d be a perfect fit next to Giannis, Damian Lillard and of course Brook Lopez as the rim protector. Because if Zach is going to succeed you have to back him up with some elite defenders and rim protectors and I think that is what Milwaukee has.

KOC: Yeah I would love LaVine on Milwaukee. To me that’s a dream fit. I’d say they have to make a deal and LaVine is who I would go get. I just don’t trust Khris Middleton…

Even when he’s having his good offensive games he’s just not the same guy defensively. He’s just not. Zach LaVine is not a great defender either but he’s more consistent and at a high level offensively. And LaVine, the high flier he is, elite shooter he is, I just think it’d be beautiful with Giannis moving forward.

We all are way more protective about the 2031 first than they are.

And they don’t know we could do a straight up Khris/Bobby/Pat/MarJon for LaVine/Jalen Smith.

But the extent to which they’re high on LaVine in Milwaukee here is notable.

Mathurin is the type of guy the Bucks should absolutely be going after in a big way. 22 Years old and slides right into our starting SF role with the ability to grow into an all star with Giannis. Absolutely worth utilizing our 2031 first rounder on.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
