The Memphis Grizzlies have included Marcus Smart in trade discussions in recent weeks, sources tell Tim Bontemps. Smart has played in just 38 games over the past two seasons due to a myriad of injuries.
The Grizzlies have seen Jaylen Wells, GG Jackson and Vince Williams Jr. emerge during the absence of Smart, who is currently out with a finger injury. Smart could be considered helpful for another playoff team looking to improve their defense.
By clearing Smart's $21.6 million salary for 25-26, they will open up space on a Jaren Jackson Jr. contract extension and also re-sign Santi Aldama.
