This is the only deal that makes any sense for both teams.

I don't like Obi tho, he's really bad on defense, but he is an upgrade over the current version of Fontecchio, who doesn't fit what JB is doing.

Fontecchio would have to go to a 3rd team. We’d only be dealing Obi to clear the contract. Dealing him for Fontecchio puts Indy in a scenario of needing to trade Fontecchio again now, or in the offseason (but Into cap space, which is harder).

Would the Clippers take Fontecchio and send PJ Tucker to Indy? It would get the Clippers under the tax this year? Detroit would have to take on James Wiseman to waive, though.

What is Detroit best offer ?

OKC starting offer is Dieng and 2 seconds.
Clear future salary for Indiana . OKC get someone taller than 6’6”.

OKC can trade Obi or someone else in 1-2 years if we are worried about future salary.

Doesn't work in the trade checker.

Obi for Fonteccio is interesting. Helps Pacers cap number, upgrades the talent on Detroit.

How about:
Indy trades - Obi Toppin and James Wiseman
Indy gets - Pj Tucker and Bobi Klintman

Clears future salary to re sign Myles Turner, a prospect to develop for a couple years (who makes less than the vet minimum next year), and 6 more fouls in another big man to have in the playoffs in Tucker.

Detroit trades - Simone Fontecchio and Bobi Klintman
Detroit gets - Obi Toppin and Bones Hyland

Gets an athletic PF and another ball handler (that expires) to help bridge the Ivey injury, while moving some future salary in the process to offset Obi’s future salary.

LAC trades - PJ Tucker and Bones Hyland
LAC gets - Simone Fontecchio and James Wiseman

Gets LAC out from under PJ Tucker, under the luxury tax this year, and a shooter on the wings.

Throw in cash or seconds or whatnot to your favorite team?

Thanks . There goes that dream.
OKC can probably expand it somehow by rerouting Dillon elsewhere for free but not sure what’s the team outlook on him .

I like this for DET -- Obi is worth it.

I've barely watched Hyland; his stats tell me he's not really what DET needs, but he's expiring, so whatever. Plus Bones could surprise us when playing for a contract, and DET might be able to flip Hyland plus a SRP for a better backup PG in a follow up trade
