Re: Joel: unchained.
Joel looked fine and in good spirits during pregame warm-ups, so his return seems close. Teams also seem to be cruising until the All-Star break, holding off on hitting the gas. Hopefully, Embiid and George will be ready by then.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Re: Joel: unchained.
Most likely scenario is Biids knee is fcked.
Probably nowadays he can play 1 game at 80%, then have to sit the next 2 to prevent it from eventually swelling like a basketball.
We clearly are not tanking so i guess they are hoping with some extra treatement and rest, he can hold up a little better in the next few months, but i woudnt hold much hope on that one.
Seems more like a hail mary and wishful thinking from the FO to save their asses.
We all know to be a real contender this team needs MVP form Biid in rythm, available and playing at 100%. That seems like a pipedream to me.

Re: Joel: unchained.
So far this year Embiid has played in 16 games and missed 36 games.
In the games in which he's played, the Sixers' average scoring margin is -2.1 (i.e., they lose by an average of 2.1 points).
In the games he's missed, their average scoring margin is -4.6 (i.e., they lose by an average of 4.6 points).
Based on sample size and variation, that isn't even close to a statistically significant difference.
The presence or absence of Embiid on the floor this year is essentially meaningless in terms of its effect on the team's scoring margin.
I'm not sure why that would be a player the General Manager would tell the world he plans to continue to build around.

Re: Joel: unchained.
The extension Morey gave to Jo is a fireable offense.
Problem is: Harris et al. won’t eat three years of dead money for Morey and Nurse.
So here’s the most likely scenario: they run this dreck out there for three more years and just pray.
Then maybe we can get a clean house.

I think Embiid will be traded this offseason.

Do you think that's even possible? Sure, he can give you 30/10 with one leg, but what team is going to trade for him knowing he's got a shaky knee that requires surgery? He's a lock to miss at least 40 games a year. I just don't see trading him as some easy task. I think we wait this out and see what happens the rest of the way.

All it takes is one sucker. I’m looking at Memphis. They’re close, but will never be a serious contender out West unless they take a shot. Give me Jaylen Wells, a resigned Aldama, Clarke (for salary) a FRP and call it even.

Re: Joel: unchained.
they have been soft launching the inevitable trade for a while now.
the Luka trade only helps it. But the fact that we are potentially worse when he plays also makes it easier. Eagles winning also probably allows them to blow it up especially since they got their stadium.
this era is over.

This is what should happen, but there is nothing that indicates anything but Morey still thinks Jo is the franchise player.

If Jo was an honorable man he'd give back that MVP trophy to Jokic.
I still think that Morey needs to blow it up completely, get the top6 pick back, and build around Maxey/McCain. A trio of Maxey/McCain/Maluach (or another draft pick of your choice, maybe they even luck out and land Cooper Flagg) could already be a good young core going forward. But the beautiful thing is that they'd still be bad enough next year to be in on the Dybantsa/Peterson sweepstakes. With some luck, this rebuild could be a really fast one, Morey just needs to be decisive and realize that the current team isn't going to win anything.

Didn't Embiid lead the league in scoring that season? It's insane how people talk about Embiid as if he didn't even belong in the MVP conversations for the 4 or 5 years he finished top 3 in MVP votes. The guy finished the season averaging 33/10/4 whiling anchoring a top 10 defense in the league. Peak Embiid was an incredible player and without a doubt MVP worthy

Re: Joel: unchained.
who's giving up real assets for Joel?
should have traded him years ago like some of us were saying.
i get that it's recency bias, but hard not to look at how the eagles are built - a bunch of likable, tough, hard working guys that zone out all external chatter and win big games - vs this soft af sixers team that defines the joel era*
*except for the ONE year we actually had a guy with a modicum of toughness in jimmy butler

Problem is that Memphis has proven to be one of the better run organizations for the past decade. Tough to imagine them making an error that large.
I’d be looking at Charlotte to make a deal. Poorly run team, a collection of contracts that can make the math work, and they have the desperation necessary to take the risk.

Morey's not going to talk down a potential asset, so I take him only at surface value on this. Trying to get the most out of a trade by billing him as still a "franchise player" is just attempting to maximizing things (I hope).

What’s Charlotte have? They’re not giving up any of their picks. Don’t get me wrong, they’re idiots. But that isn’t happening.

I can’t believe I’m about to type this, but I’m actually glad when Joel doesn’t play. The team is more enjoyable to watch when he’s out and I used to be a fanboy.

Embiid wins MVP in 2021 and was on track to winning a unanimous MVP in 2024 if he stayed healthy.
Revision about his career is going to be disgraceful, I just saw fans victimizing Tobias Harris yesterday.
