Official Scottie All Star Barnes Thread 9

Team isn’t good enough for Barnes to be an all-star this year. And if we are being honest, Barnes hasn’t been good enough either. He had a hot month before the eye injury. And he’s been good the last 2.5 weeks. But overall he hasn’t been stellar consistently with his time on the court even if it has been impacted by injury. Hopefully this fuels him to keep working hard.

Yeah, this has been more of an "extract the small positives" kind of season. Playmaking, middie, defense. Positive signs, but struggling to put it a together and backsliding in other areas.

He'll probably never be a great 3point shooter. He should take 3 or 4 a game at most.

These games where he takes 5-10, it's hard to watch.

He needs to stick to taking KG type shots. I like his game best from that area.

Even if he was shooting 36%, I wouldn't want him taking a lot.

Generational talents are rare. Us taking a crack at Flagg is probably the best we're going to get until The Next comes along at some undetermined time. If we don't do that successfully, then we should probably abandon the idea of the tank as a viable approach, because otherwise we'll just be bad for a long while like the Wizards. It should be a targeted thing, not a perpetual strategy.

We know he isn't a Wemby-level player. This much is pretty well-established at this point, but also wasn't really on the table to start when he was drafted, so that's no big surprise, nor a mega letdown.
