Wanted Robert Williams or Jonas V but knew it was fat chance. Ok with Eubanks. He plays hard and knows his role. Bamba has been a bust and just doesn't strike me as a guy that works very hard.

trade deadline is still several days away- perhaps they will land a better big man.

I wonder if Mills has anything left in the tank- he was such a great spark off the bench for the Spurs. Great shooter. Probably too old to be in the rotation though as he likely is a weak defender now

Eubanks is serviceable and I think Mills is at the end of his career. Glad to finally get rid of PJ. I knew Mo would be gone by seasons end, didn't know it would happen this fast tho.

I can really see them re-shaping chunks of the deeper rotation.. as I bet coming into the year it was like "lets see what we got and where we go".. and now, I think they realize "we are as good as we thought we could be, and can make a decent run healthy".. which they are capable of I believe.

Apart from the PF/hybrid forward issue, there are still 1-2 other areas for improvement off the main 6-7 guys.

I wouldn't rule out getting a more "starter-capable" big like RW3 or Jonas V. (or Jalen Smith : ) darkhorse! ).

I think something on the wings may be next.

Then give Jordan a full NBA deal.

As an Aussie who played against Patty as a kid and has had a few chats with him when he’s been back in town during the offseason, **** yes. I’ve wanted this for 15 years.

Realistically, he won’t bring a lot on court these days, but the guy is a leader, I love this trade (though I’m too biased to give fair evaluation)

Hard to even care anymore after this corrupt bailout trade. Meanwhile we're stuck with a 35-year-old, a 33-year-old who we're constantly holding our breath and checking the injury report for, a roster that might win a first-round series if everything goes absolutely perfect, no assets left to improve with, and the front office who got us into this mess is all still here. The cherry on top is that Frank unwittingly helped the Lakers make that trade, as if it wasn't bad enough.

If we were the Lakers, this would be where the league steps in to hand us Jokic for free. But we're the Clippers, so we'll get nothing but sand kicked in our faces. Same as it ever was.

Hard to imagine trading a triple-crown triple-double guy in his prime [25] for AD, who's 32 and misses a lot of games. Two reasons I can think of:

1) I don't really enjoy watching Luka play. The numbers are there, but the team is not. They win, but they don't play championship basketball. I wouldn't want to play WITH him either. If the money's the same, if I'm a FA, I don't sign with Dallas. And his contract's up this summer. I can see Cuban not wanting to look at another 5 years of this.

2) The NBA is wide open again this year. These Mavs have a real shot.

Dallas adds one of the game’s very best two-way players, someone who impacts outcomes at both rims. Davis doesn’t need to score to deliver victories — his rebounding and rim protection are elite. Plus, Kyrie Irving will assume Luka’s ball-handling duties. The starting five for Dallas is among the best in basketball, especially inside the paint. The Mavs have beaten West leader OKC three times this year; now just added Davis.

Whoopee, now it's only the second-worst. And while Harrison will be fired in a year or two as the scapegoat for Dallas' trade, Frank still isn't even on the hot seat for our trade or any of the other idiotic moves he's made. Again, he gave Utah a draft pick that helped this Luka trade get done, so if you think about it, our GM was involved in the two worst trades ever. How does this warrant an all-caps celebration tweet?

Washington would be pretty ideal to come in at PF -- I just kind of don't think Dallas is gonna help out here..

Random, but thought a couple times about it: I could see.. taking a flyer on Pat Williams from the Bulls.. a bust so far of a high-lotto pick, but has solid tools on both ends for a big 3/D hybrid forward. Think settling into a role-player role on a playoff team would help him balance out.. and maybe he can get even better still.

Anyhow, can see him getting moved to a playoff team soon. Him or Jalen Smith : )

I think the new CBA is making these types of choices harder for teams. Do they blow a large portion of the cap on a Supermax for a player they aren't entirely sure is going to deliver for them? The Clips had to make this choice to a lesser degree with PG. Other teams had to make similar calls on useful players (KCP, Chris Paul, Harrison Barnes). These are tough choices and I will give the Mavs some credit for trying to put together a balanced team in the immediate. Even though LAL a got a golden egg once again, as currently constructed, they have awkward pieces and along with no size and D. And if Doncic is more like Zion in terms of fitness, who knows, maybe DAL will be happy to have cut bait. One final note, I think this sends a message to LeBJ more than anything. Letting him know the team is quite ready to move on from him, the clock is ticking.

I didn't realize this brought us under the lux tax and even the first apron. Positioning ourselves for the buyout market makes the most sense. We remain a top destination.

I say it every year, but buyout players are generally bought out for a reason. They're on their last legs and can't contribute anymore or they just aren't that good. The veteran names will be looking to ring-chase on a contender anyway, not try to narrowly avoid the play-in and lose in the first round here, so we'll be picking from the scraps of the scraps. It doesn't matter who we sign, there's like a 0.1% chance it'll have any positive impact on our season.

When you're stuck praying for a miracle in the buyout market and don't have any more realistic avenues to improve your team, it's time to rebuild.
