Yeah, I bet teams didn't know he was on the block, but I also imagine his agent contacted the Mavs ownership and the Lakers ownership and told them he would sign there in 26 as an UFA. So the Mavs scrambled knowing no one would give up a ton for him if his agent told other teams that too....and got AD.

Ishbia has to win out on that shock factor. Getting Butler isn't enough now.

On the flip side of the things, he would take a lot less flack if he decided to rebuild right now. Luka to Lakers would trump anything the Suns do, so trading Booker, Beal, KD right now wouldn't be nearly as interesting.

Lakers still have 4 first round picks in 2026, 2028, 2030, 2031 WTF

Dallas could have asked for all of them and got them

I was just thinking the same thing. I mean you kinda gotta flush it now? Maybe we can send them Nurk since they now need a big lol?

That makes sense on theory but Stein said that Luka didn't ask out and Luka is losing a ton of money because he can't sign a supermax extension now that he has being traded.

You're not wrong but there's always going to be some teams that's gonna be like F it, let us get in there and see how it goes eg Toronto and Kawhi.

AD is better than Demar but given injuries etc, what Mavs got arguably isn't much more than what Spurs got for Kawhi who had some unknown injury at the time and pretty much everyone knew he wasn't sticking around in Canada.

This is serious mismanagement in my books

New Owners in the league have traded Doncic and Towns for worse players, Bridges doesnt seem so bad.

There's no way Ishiba doesn't push Dunn into a Butler trade now right?

Absolute collusion by the league to help prop up the flakers yet again! Not just getting Doncic in an insanely lopsided trade! But also conveniently getting him at a discount that'll allow them to still add more pieces too! Giving them a new younger BIG THREE! Thee NBA is becoming such an unwatchable joke!

Not enough to get Luka but also throw in a discount.

He may not have asked out, but my guess is that he wanted to test FA. Yes, Stein says they were "heading" towards an extension this summer which is why I think with it being risky to wait for free agency, they let the team know out of respect and it also gives Luka security because LA can extend him too. Maybe not to as big of a contract, but his endorsements will more than make up for it. Luka has always seemed to be enamored with Hollywood too.

Beal for Lebron.
Nurkic for Rui.

That Lakers roster doesn't make sense with Lebron and Luka IMO.

Are the Warriors going to trade for LeBron and Butler?

Well if Luka wasn't going to leave Dallas than it's gross negligence yes.

Return to Phoenix Suns
