Luka traded to the Lakers

Post#1 » by blueberrysticky » Sun Feb 2, 2025 6:11 am

Say what you want about Luka. But this is a generational carry a team to the finals type of player . I am frustrated and feel let down. We gave up a player that can carry an entire offense in playoff high intensity half court. We gave up last years scoring champion. Just because we couldn’t wait a few years to see if his conditioning improves? He is 25. He’s a kid. We just went to the finals. I am pissed

and I’m not even going to bring up the return for this “trade”. This is some kind of BS behind the scenes stupidity; where instead of getting actual value we decide to just act on some sort of emotional rift between Nico and Luka. Cuban wouldn’t have signed off on this. This is beyond stupid

I mean they could have announced that Luka is for sale and get ten picks from the Jazz or something.

Also you don't make a trade with the fcuking Lakers.

This feels like Dirk being traded from Charlotte to Mavs type of trade in hindsight.

How are the sorry Mavs fans watch the game now? Root for Luka to fail? Like how we root for Brunson to fail in New York?

We deserve better as a fan base.

The next ten years our franchise will be the biggest laughing stock or we are the biggest genius. Time will tell.

But it seems like the former is way more probable.

Spurs would have given you like 7 picks, many of them lottery picks, to nab Luka. So many teams would have paid through their teeth to get Luka. I can't believe such an inept trade could be signed off on. A strong contender for the worst trade of modern times.

These new owners are making Cuban look like a genius.

1) why?
2) why??????
3) why now? You could get way more in the offseason. CLE would have given you Mobley, a younger, cheaper and healthier version of AD
4) why insult Luka with the "defense" comments on his way out the door? That sounds petty, makes the whole trade look like a spiteful move.
5) whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Yes, that's the biggest question. Why secretly deal only with Lakers? If they decided to trade him, just make it public and watch the war for him.

First off, I will say my condolences to you Mavs fans for this insane and shocking trade. Although the shock is wearing off for me, for the Mavs and the fans, this will be echoing off the walls for a while.

I don't know what to say about all of this. To trade a generational player for AD who's good in his own right, but with history of injuries to boot. At least AD gets to play at his original position as the PF. The Mavs should've gotten more first round picks in the deal. As for the future Luka extension before the trade, I'm aware there were talks about whether or not Luka would've been fully committed to whatever deal Luka would've received from the Mavs. I wonder if the new CBA played a role into their decision to trading Luka this way.

The Mavs are a year removed from being in the NBA Finals. Now they hit the reset button with this deal. I don't know what's going to happen the rest of the way with this team. Outside of this will be a struggle and adjustment to overcome both psychologically and strategically.

Good luck Mavs fans

If I were someone like Kyrie or PJ, I would just do a shrug and not care anymore.

Why should they care?

The FO betrayed everyone.

It feels surreal for me to say I'd rather trade Luka to the Spurs. To let Luka gets coached properly by Pop and prime Luka and prime Wemby to win the next 10 championships than giving him away to the most disgusting franchise who does nothing but robbing other teams.

This is why you don't let casino owners have NBA teams.

I personally feel like this is the writing on the wall that this franchise is not in it for the long haul in Dallas. The owners are readying a Vegas move. Either why, I don't know about y'all, but this is where my support for them ends. Unless Luka is carrying some sort of career ending injury, there's literally no good justification for this move, and they've completed blindsided and betrayed the fans.

Even if Luka is overweight and needsnto be traded, you get 10 times this package, this stinks of under the table stuff.
What a sad day, I feel stupid for badmouthing Cuban, he wohld never do this.
