This is way better than Kyrie to the Lakers we were hoping for in summer of 2022.

Could be. Personally I would prefer Kessler as he's younger and more physical and just overall better defensively imo (Knecht + Unprotected 31 1st + Swap if the Jazz comply?) but I'd be happy with either.

Ainge-hole won't do it for our current assets. He would have wanted 2 1sts and Rui/Reeves plus god knows what

 true but who would've thought we'd trade AD for Luka? Anything is possible  But on a serious note the targets are still the same for me: Turner, Poeltl or Kessler (longshot yes). Knecht, Rui and our 31 1st must be on the table imo.

Butler wouldnt really help us. We have a gaping hole in the middle. Turner or Kessler are probably our current target.

I want Anthony edwards here. What do I have to do just wish it or press a button somewhere??
I dunno, all of this feels really surreal; I feel like the basketball gods gave us a free ticket for whatever we want

classic response from Durant... clearly he thinks the Lakers are looking better and also he thinks of Reeves as part of our core talent.

Yah, I don't see it, especially now that those future picks are devalued w/Luka on the team. That said, Poeltl and Capela are probably just as impactful - if not more - right now...while also being "cheaper" in terms of the assets to send. Jalen Smith might be alright if they want someone cheaper? Going to be weird to walk around LA after this, how quick do the billboards get changed? Will they replace the Austin Reeves billboard near my apartment with a Luka billboard?

Congratulations on getting Luka, especially this cheap....the only weakness Luka has is his conditioning (and D ,but he's playing bad only cause he's not in the Best shape, not because he can't)... luckily now he has LBJ(his idol) who he respects and hopefully learns from him how to take care of your body...this might also light a fire under his ass and he probably wants to stick a big F U to the Mavs owners...honestly I can see him making a statement against Mavs like he did against the Suns :D ...I have a sneaky feeling that this might just be an apetizer and someone else could come in the next year or two thru FA...maybe a Giannis,Jokić type of talent...Will definetly be watching more Laker games now, since I'm slovenian :P

SlimShady83 wrote:I know some of you wanted a rebuild and to trade AD ... ARe you all happy with this one?

*that was trade AD for PICKS, btw...not just trade. We've gone back and forth for over 6 months...surely you got that*

Well, I'd hate to disappoint by being happy....so I'll take the negative.

Firstly....nice to see the Lakers actually do SOMETHING. I'm not sure I'd call this a swing for the fence, but it's definitely out of the box...I'll give them that. Secondly.....we traded away a 31 year old big for a 25 year old. This is good for "star power", and if you think this is great move, and Luca will attract other stars..then I guess it's good.

Personally: Not the biggest Luca fan. He's a great shooter....but we just got Harden 2.0 Total crap defense. And your gonna live by Luca's shots, and die by Luca's shots. And his flopping is embarrassing. This move, if anything, just made us a worse team (short term). Maybe more moves...so I'll withhold judgement for a bit.

I see we gave away a first round pick. Not into that.

Personally, I woulda rather gone the true rebuild route.....gotten a bunch of picks. Curious to see if Cuban does exactly that: move AD for a bunch of picks...and does a rebuild of his own (I can't be the only one noticing what OKC and Houston have done, and where they are at). I don't think this does much for the Lakers, except kick the "we need to sign a star" can down the road. The FO managed to avoid having to rebuild, and you know....show their talent as a FO....but in the end, we lost the (currently) better player, and gave a 1st round pick away. Kudos to them for getting a young star, and thus avoiding their eventual fate. Well played. But we're a worse team now. I don't think that's debatable.

Far be it from Cuban to ever do the Lakers something close to what would be considered a favor. I'm curious to see what Cuban now does. He's a fool to keep AD, and make any long-term plans. Does he think he can swing a title with those 3 this year? I'll give him that keeping AD for the season and making a push would be reasonable. But if he moves AD this offseason, and gets 3-4 picks (plus the one he got from us)...then we just got played.

So no...I think this sucks. But....maybe there's more. So I'll chill for a few days, and let them do what they gonna do.

Weird seeing all these people who thought AD was the best defender in the league, and a top talent to build around, so excited about giving him up, and a pick, for a dude who gives DLo a run for worst defender.

This is NOTHING like that Pau trade cause the Lakers gave up basically NOTHING for him. AD is like 5x better than Gasol at his best.

yeah people calling Luka the biggest trade ever... interesting debate.

Pau was an international star that fit and had results right away for almost literally nothing

People saying the Mavs got nothing are tripping, though I agree the full package is fully skewed towards LA. Mavs are more dangerous than the lakers right now, though. Without another trade LA has Kaloko and Hays... that's worse than Will Perdue or anyone the Bulls ever sent out with Jordan.
Exactly. Mavs won this trade cause defense win championships, not a flopper whining for calls.
