Yes, it takes a special talent to:

1. Be the GM of the Lakers
2. Get gifted players.

Imagine you take your team to the Finals with your knees literally bleeding, then 6 months later they trade you and call you a fat, no-defense playing loser, lol. Luka should be embarrassed right now.

Maybe this will be either a

"Turn Mavs into Washington Bullets episode", or

"A one-hit wonder of winning a champ by giving up your franchise player"
Are you fans of the team or the player?

And I fully believe Luka might have already peaked due to conditioning, effort, and injury, but there was unquestionably a better deal available right now for the longterm viability of the franchise.

They literally gave him away for free. Something else is up i think.

Even if they were sick of him, they could have gotten a god father deal for him involving multiple first rounders as a start.

I'm sorry but no way on Earth should Mikal Bridges fetch more value than Luka Doncic.

If I was the Mavs and really had to trade Luka for a defensive C, I'd trade him to OKC for Chet, and Jaylen Williams, and one of Wiggins-Joe-Dort, even if it downgrades their D and there would be questions about how Shai and Luka coexist, I think it'd be extremely hard for the Thunder to say no.

There's no way I'd trade Luka for glass AD, no matter how great he's played when healthy this season.

The only way this trade works for Mavs is if they win the championship this year... otherwise it's just a very suspicious trade.

NBA fan for almost 30 years now. Never was this shocked by a trade. not even remotely close. The Lakers can't stop winning.

I'm completely flummoxed.
Absolutely senseless trade for Dallas. Basically gave him away for nothing, as others said.
For the Lakers I get it long term, but this is an awful fit next to Lebron.
Are they basically showing him the door?
For that price, I guess you gotta do it, but it's still really bizarre.

The NBA is rigged. I'm really starting to question my fanhood for this sport.
"And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character hope." Rom. 5: 2-4

Classic NBA.

I thought the same. Then again, Davis might be better for them.

It’s a sprained ankle no? That’s only a week or two. We should count our lucky stars, especially before all star break

I know right!
Reason of the season, let's not get carried away.

And everyone from their fans all the way up to their owner were so smug about it. Even though it is a massive win for the Lakers, I'm enjoying this more and more as it sinks in because of how life-alteringly demoralizing it is for Mavs fans. Either your team just made one of the worst trades in the history of the NBA by giving up on a 25 year old superstar for peanuts, or your team lost out on a franchise cornerstone, face of the league player at 25 years old because he was apathetic about giving his all.

Either way, it's AWESOME. As you said, couldn't have happened to a better franchise.

Cuban really sold the team and the soul of Mavs. :D

Can’t really think of a worse trade of this magnitude. Prime Isiah could not have topped this.

And this guy is still an idiot

There needs to be an investigation on this. That Dallas ownership is super shady. There must be some secondary motives that has nothing to do with basketball.

I stopped by the Dallas board. Some folks are clearly in denial, but there are folks who just have outright said they're done with the team. Can't say I blame them...this is basketball malpractice of the highest order. Like, this should never happen. They destroyed themselves for what? Because Luka has conditioning issues? He's 25 coming off of a Finals run. It makes no sense. And the value returned is horrible. Anthony Davis????

Yeah. This seems really suspicious. Adam Silver should have slammed the brakes on this.

i'm seeing some conspiracy theory that the mavs ownership wants to move the mavs to vegas. maybe this is what silver demanded for the ok.

Return to New York Knicks
