i'm seeing some conspiracy theory that the mavs ownership wants to move the mavs to vegas. maybe this is what silver demanded for the ok.

If you really wanted to relocate a team, pissing off the entire city where the franchise is currently in and saving some money while at it would be a good start, don't think you need Silver's help with that. Then again, Dallas is too big of a market not to at least get an expansion team later.

I stopped by the Dallas board. Some folks are clearly in denial, but there are folks who just have outright said they're done with the team. Can't say I blame them...this is basketball malpractice of the highest order. Like, this should never happen. They destroyed themselves for what? Because Luka has conditioning issues? He's 25 coming off of a Finals run. It makes no sense. And the value returned is horrible. Anthony Davis????

No, no, don't demonstrate even a modicum of concern for the Mavs and their fans. You weren't on board when it began, but there was a reason some Knicks fans were actually rooting for the Celtics in The Finals last year, and it had nothing to do with the Celtics.

They deserve every drop of anguish. The basketball gods caught up to that ass.

prob many promises from silver, lottery win in the next 5 years guaranteed. this was dallas playing ball and saving the lakers. it will be interesting to see what the league gifts them. crazy chris paul got vetoed by the league years ago, but not this.

I mean I was pissed off at the Mavs and the league over Cuban blatantly match fixing to avoid their pick conveying to the Knicks but I forgot about it since the team went on to acquire OG, KAT and Mikal.

I don't know if this is a league conspiracy. Rating are declining but would "saving the Lakers" fix the problem? I don't necessarily think so since there are a lot of issues leading to the league's declining ratings.

Here's a thought exercise to make Knicks fans smile.

As much as it sucks that the Lakers once again get bailed out, think about an alternative scenario where a 25 year old face of the league, perennial MVP candidate is dealt for peanuts, and an on-his-last-legs Pat the Rat makes a final sweetheart deal happen. Because I honestly believe he could have put together a better package that satisfied the Mavs desires around Bam and Herro.

It just keeps getting better. Mavs organization/fans crushed AND an aging Riley sees his Heat in complete turmoil, a disgruntled superstar gets traded for nothing, and he was never even given an opportunity for a deal.

The Mavericks were motivated to move Doncic because of his constant conditioning concerns, sources told MacMahon. There had been significant frustration within the organization about Doncic's lack of discipline regarding his diet and conditioning, which team sources considered a major factor in his injury issues.

Doncic has been limited to only 22 games this season because of a variety of injuries. He has twice strained his left calf since reporting back to Dallas before training camp in late September, although the Mavs reported the fall injury only as a calf contusion, sources said. Doncic has not played since straining his calf on Christmas Day.

Though Doncic was relatively svelte by his standards when he reported to camp, his weight ballooned to the high 260s early this season, sources said. He sat out five games in late November, when the Mavs listed him with a sprained right wrist, an extended absence to allow Doncic to focus on his conditioning. He had a similar early-season layoff in the 2022-23 season.

Seems like damage control/propaganda.

Luka's always had conditioning issues. But he also led them to the Finals just last year - these issues are not franchise-crippling like they are with Zion. This is not a reasonable reason to trade a young superstar for an aging star, with no blue-chip prospect or haul of picks coming back.

This was likely an ownership decision based on dodgy financial reasons or political reasons.
