Yup. This one hurts and will hurt our franchise. You don't trade away your franchise player like this. By all reports, Luka and damn near everyone was blindsided.

When players talk about franchise betrayal to their players, this will he the example brought up everytime now.

Cmon man, dont act like reaching the Finals isnt a big deal.

Yea it’s a big deal but winning the Finals is an even bigger deal. This team is better defensively than last years Finals team.

Ofc the goal is to win it all but there is no shame in losing the Finals against the most stacked team since the KDs Warriors.
Defense might got better but what about our offense? The whole team was built around Luka, now what's the point of having two rim rollers without a legit PG? Kyrie is a combo guard, you dont want to make him your primary handler, it never worked even when he was in his prime. Spacing got worse too.

The spacing will be fine. They do need to find another PG though. They will have to find one for sure. They still have assets to make a trade by Thursday or they can make a trade this off season. They do still have options.

I didn't say it kills their season but I don't think it makes them better

It kills their future more than their present..

How so?

There isn't a single Pg out there that can do anything remotely close what Luka was doing. And even, if someone miraculously appears, he will go to Spurs.

Because you will have only Lively, who's more injury prone than Luka, wort mentioning in 3 years time. You can always find 3&D players or Cs, you can't find players like Luka.

From 2027 to 2030, both included, Mavs have no control over their own draft picks, and by then AD will be 34 and Kai 35.

P.S. forgive my bad English, this morning my brain doesnt work so well.

I'm listening to Mavs content creators, and it's sad, they know their traffic is about to abruptly take a nose dive, while trying to make sense of the Harakiri they just wirnessed, bizarre stuff.

I'm not American so I could be wrong seeing this from afar, but the most serious thing about changing Luka is that they also send him to LA? I'm sorry, but I see this as a humiliation to the fans and a clear example that They don't care how their fans feel, especially the children who are going to suffer with the loss of their idol... I hope the fans who live in Dallas become very loud and make the owners lose money in protest... I erase myself ..at least until this situation hurts less...what will be next? see how KI goes to the SPURS this summer for free or they trade him to the HEAT for D.Robinson and a selection..another collateral damage...looks like we'll be giving a lottery pick to the SPURS in 2030...great!!

This is worse than Figo to Real Madrid, absolutely disgusting, at least Figo wanted the transfer.

Mavs fans (including me) are not seeing the whole picture. So naturally it doesnt make sense.

At the moment I feel deeply betrayed by the Mavs. Luka represented the team more than just any franchise player - it is his brand of basketball - he is / was the identification figure. I'd prefer to ride out the Luka era - even if it means no championships.

I always expected his era to stop suddenly when Luka asks out or just moves on - but this is the other way around. Ripping out the basketball core and replacing that with AD. Maybe it works on the court - for a lot of fans, me included, it will be hard to accept.

I fully expect news to leak eventually and it will add reasoning to this split.

Yeah I heard Josh Bowe go off on how he needs the money from his show with Kirk and how negatively not having Luka will now affect him financially now. Felt bad for the guy.

Not to mention the optics. It’s not a good look.

And they are the smallest of all 3.
Cato and Karalla saw the opporunity in young phenom and most exciting player in the league and opened new podcast with studio and all, it'll gondown the drain, Locked on guys had the most popular locked on show, they will all get demolished...

New owners are casino owners. They take people's money. Good look and optics are not on top of the list. I can assure you that.

On the bright side, Mavs finally traded Maxi

(and Kyrie's best buddy Kieff).

This is the type of betrayal that makes fans hate a team.

I’m reminded of Art Model taking the Browns to Baltimore.

It feels almost that level of betrayal.

Except for the fact it’s the Lakers, I can’t believe the league allowed it,
