The Spurs probably would have traded everything in their coffers to pair Wemby with Luka.

There is no way that Dallas did any due diligence around the league before they made this deal. Not for what they got in return.

It was vetoed by the league because the league had control of the team at the time of the trade because it was ownerless, league has no say in the matter when two teams willingly consistent to a trade like this no matter how lopsided or wacky it may be

I think this year is a wash due to the time needed for not just them but everyone else to figure out how to play next to Luka/Lebron. However, next year if LeBron doesn’t decline they could come out of the west if the lakers can get the right people around them.
