Agree that other packages you listed could have been a decent enough return and an good starting point for the Mavs franchise. AD on the other hand, not so much.

Say in private the Mavs know that Luka’s leg injury is worse than the initial diagnosis, or he won’t sign the extension or he said he’ll team up with Jokic in Denver, no one else knows that. Why short change yourself by that much? I honestly don’t understand the logic for Dallas.

The only positive point for Luka is that at least we're again talking about him this season as for sure, he had become almost a non show this season on basketball court (mostly because of his injuries but still) :lol:

How does Dallas ever recover from this? How do Mavericks fans ever forgive their franchise and continue to support it?

I'm thinking of all the lopsided trades that have gone through this century, how they looked at the time they happened… the Paul Gasol trade, the vetoed Chris Paul trade, Ainge trading his washed up stars for Brooklyn's future… None of them even come close to this. This has got to be the worst heist in the history of the NBA.

Congrats to the Lakers, honestly.

Wildest thing about this trade to me is that first you saw DIrk play his whole career with the Mavs and win a championship, and then the Mavs get super lucky to get Doncic. I automatically assumed Luka would also retire a Mav. I never thought that they would even consider trading him, let alone at the age of 25. And for sure not for a 30+ yo injuryprone player. So mindboggling...

Now what do the Lakers do with LeBron? They traded one of Rich Paul players seemingly out of the blue, would LeBron take this as a sign of disrespect? Also, it’s not guarantee that Luka will sign an extension, so if Luka leaves them and teams up with one of his Balkan buddies, then LA would have no assets going forward.
