I hope the trade is a wake up call for him, and think training with Lebron will be a big help.

He's obviously insane no matter his discipline, but I'm hoping the slver lining to this insane trade is we get to see the best version of Luka

Lebron will get him in shape IMO

He’ll get him on that nofap/retention wagon, something that all boxers do before fights. It sounds stupid but Lebron alluded to it himself and monks praise it for longevity. At the very least, it builds significant discipline.
LeBron has a 17.8% field goal percentage and a 12.5% 3-point percentage in clutch situations, and also made 20 of 116 game winning/tying shots in 4th/OT during his career

Ah, here comes the sad Mavs PR spin to justify this trade. So predictable.

Not sure how this is the conclusion when he’s injured and probably just haven’t been healthy enough to work out. But if this is true, then you get him help not trade him.

Not saying he's an alcoholic or that his recent weight gain has to do with alcohol specifically, but Doncic is definitely known among Euro basketball journos to be a drinker. Loves his beer and vodka. He's known to spend his summers drinking and smoking hookahs.

...and in any case he has played 86% of the games in the last 6 seasons... in the last 6 seasons "glass-man" Davis has played 70% of the available games

New pod with MacMahon. He says that when Luka is in shape he's 245-250.

At around 6:30 in.

Jokic 31/21/22
Luka & Oscar = 5 x 27/8/8
The Brodie = All-out energy
Best Canadian: Nash or SGA?

He's a big thick dude. 270 so, he's probably only around 30 pounds overweight?

He's been out for some time, I bet he can get back in shape pretty fast.

Still the worst trade ever. They can't spin their way out of this.

Less than 30.

Godymas wrote:when Luka popped that beer after winning the WCF and Michael Finley walked up and took it away from him. You had to feel like that was almost a clear signal from the FO saying "we don't think you have the right mentality", and look, it makes sense for a guy that's on a rookie deal, still new to the NBA, over achieves. But Luka is making max money to be the next "LeBron James" or "Kobe Bryant" etc. and Dallas has constructed their team clearly to be able to win today.

There has to be more behind the scenes, I think that Dallas felt like they had given Luka so much opportunity to be the best he could be and relative to what he could be, he was underperforming. Showing up out of shape, not taking his diet and conditioning seriously, and this was kind of the only way to really hurt him, because it removes the super max, it also hits him on the state taxes, he's going to make A LOT less money to be the same guy now, except he's in Los Angeles on the freakin' LAKERS.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/SVsX5uz9ip4

Now if the Lakers believe that having LeBron in the locker room with Luka can fix his clear behavioral and mentality based issues, then so be it. It feels like there is some work to be done here. However, the basketball fit between LeBron and Luka is so questionable. The Lakers are CLEARLY a worse team than yesterday. The Lakers were SLIGHTLY turning a new leaf here, 5th in the West, just beat the Knicks, things were honestly looking up, maybe they could have a 2nd round exit, maybe they could sneak into the WCF, maybe they had a shot to win it all.

It almost feels like they slammed the door on LeBron, basically said, "alright we are going to rebuild and think selfishly for a bit now, Luka Doncic gives US the best possible future"

So you have to wonder, if LeBron will be out the door soon and if so that means that Luka is going to be in a locker room with basically no real veteran superstar to guide him and you tie that in with his existing bad habits, the difference of lifestyle in LA, and it really does show a lot of risk.

bro you need to chill out. you acting like luka didnt dominate grown men when he was 15 and currently is one of the top mvp vote getters every year. he underperformed? im sorry what?

luka has no "clear behavioral and mentality based issues", because has a couple too many pounds starting the season or complains to the refs? common man. you are reaching.. the guy isnt even in his prime. finley would have taken that beer from anybody doing an interview, thats just NBA policy
im bout dat action boss

Even if the health and weight is the issue, I'm worried about that when Luka is 30+, not at 25 lol.

Yea if at 30 he's still not right, then I'm not wanting to give him a big max then, but now...

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.
