Mavs become a legitimate title contended with a top 3 player in the league and arguably the best defensive player in the league who gets to play his desired position. They also get a up and coming two way athletic guard who loves to play defense in Christie. Could they have gotten more? Probably, but they have the pieces to win now.

Lakers get the Happy Meal, Brooklyn variant of James Harden who's even worse on defense. With Luka nearly being the size of an amateur sumo wrestler and monopolising the ball, it won't attract the stars that the Lakers want in the future.

That hopium must have hit hella hard this morning.

Nah - just know that Luka without a defensive big in the paint to cover up his mistakes is crazy.

Any justification they can come up with for trading Luka can be destroyed by the fact they went straight for Davis who has more even more baggage.

Mavs miss the playoffs and Silver hooks them up with Flagg for their service to the league.

The Mavs called themselves? I can believe that lol
probably too stupid to pick up their own call. Or wait…would it be probably too stupid to not answer the call.

It’s time to take the Mavericks organization behind the woodshed.

I'm gonna leave this right here: Brian Windhorst, Tim Bontemps, and Tim MacMahon basically saying everything I said.

Mavs ownership didn't want to pay Luka!

Bontemps called it the BIGGEST short in NBA history, meaning Mavs ownership didn't want to invest long-term in Luka. They saw that 5-year, $345 million contract extension as a bad investment.

That isn't what we were even talking about. Go back and read what I put in bold in your first post.

That is what we were talking about. Don't try to change the subject now. You said the Mavs owners were Trump supporters and had billions as if that meant they couldn't see Luka's upcoming contract extension as a bad investment. Tim MacMahon says the Mavs owners saw MASSIVE risk in paying Luka, which is EXACTLY what I was talking about.

LeBron is 40, loves Luka and has nothing left to prove so I don't think he'll complain to be Luka's #2 at this stage of his career.
But if he can remain at least the leader out of basketball court and teach Luka a few things about work ethic and how to achieve greatness then it will be useful at least for Luka.

Nah Lebron's in the way now. Luka is the future and they dont need another meh defender who will take the ball out of his hands at the forward spot. Recoup some value with a Lebron trade and start building around Luka

I'm sure that while he may not have known THIS would happen, that he already did something within LA to spark them doing something. Like either asked to be traded, or asked them to acquire a star.

Just seems stupid to troll if you're an ESPN 'analyst' I can see on here trolling because whatever but to actually state that publicly makes you look like a moron.

Why would anyone want to look stupid in front of everyone?

Perkins, like Gilbert Arenas, is a closet racist. I wouldn't take anything he says seriously.

Remember Perkins was also the one who spearheaded the whole Embiid over Jokic campaign for MVP.

Genuinely interested in what that might be, unless they know of some seventh grader who is already better than Flagg/Wemby and will be in the 2029 draft.

I don't think so, Davis is 'just' an elite-elite finisher offensively in terms of offense creation - and the only moment Kyrie played as a 1a-anchor offensively was in Boston and it ended up with him averaging 20-4-6 on 44.7%TS against Bucks in 2019.

They will be very good if they stay healthy, but they're more like Wolves 2024 as a team now, their 3rd-best player on offense is Gafford. And I don't think they're assets to acquire all-star level talent offensively.

It was more of a joke than a prediction, since they did make the finals last year.

I am not making a prediction at this time.

Exactly, all this other stuff is smoke and mirrors. His agent told Dallas we are signing with the Lakers next summer, and will let other GMs know this if you attempt to trade us anywhere but the Lakers.

Luka camp saving face from fans by acting "stunned" and not getting **** on by Mavs fans, etc.

Mavs camp trying to save face, instill confidence in team, fans and AD, while somewhat rationalize it. But at some point when they are taking so much crap, the real news will come out.

I was wondering the same thing, do the Lakers do this if they don't know for a fact that Luka will sign an extention with them?
otherwise, what's stopping him from saying "f it" and just waiting another year and signing as a FA, anywhere he wants?

there's no way the Lakers are just assuming he'll sign an extention and needed input from his camp or his agent and thus it's impossible for him to be "stunned". he had to know, right?

p.s, Luka on the Lakers on a non-supermax contract is the best (non-rookie, that would be Wemby) contract in the NBA

Yeah. Top 3, top 5. One of those. Brings it every night on both ends. No diddy. Been watching him for while.

Changes shots, blocks shots, deflections, 3 level scorer for a big man.

What makes you think any of them are the same people you are talking about in the second part of your post?
