The biggest stinking pile of BS I've ever seen following the NBA

Post#1 » by The-Stallion70 » Sun Feb 2, 2025 3:03 pm

And the award for best actor goes to Tim McMahon justifying this on ESPN.

I was only a kid when the Shaq trade happened and so couldn't make sense of it but now here today we have the modern equivalent and man this is ugly.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

The Gasol trade always seemed a little suspicious, but I moved on. And I like to joke about the Lakers' free throw advantage—I get it with LeBron and AD, but does Austin Reaves really need a superstar whistle too? Still, I never took it too seriously.

But now? I’m fully convinced the NBA is rigged for the Lakers. Other owners should be demanding that this trade be voided and investigated.

If you told me this deal happened because Dr. Buss rose from the grave as the Lich King and stole the soul of Miriam Adelson, I’d have to admit—I’ve never believed in necromancy, but that explanation makes more sense than the Mavs just not being able to get two firsts for Luka.

Its not rigged for the Lakers. Its rigged for LeBron, and has been for over 20 years now, regardless of the team he happened to hop on.

Oh this was for the Lakers, not LeBron. It's no coincidence the Pau Gasol trade was to the Lakers' benefit, that was way before LeBron was in LA

Tim McMahon has always been a hack, too

Seek help. Immediately. It's called business. Believe it or not, each team is managed independently. Wild right, the thought that billionaire owners understand what they are doing.

So if you're not a Lakers fan, how does it feel knowing that your team works for the Lakers one way or another?

Lakers
Lebron
Klutch
Nico Harrison
Pelinka

Put a bunch of shady names together and a lot of league revenue at stake. There’s no sensible explanation for this one beyond the weak Mavericks PR attempts

This trade was made to help LeBron. There’s nothing more to it. Dallas didn’t even bother getting back Reaves and Knecht because they didn’t want to harm LeBron’s chances of winning another championship

Why would Dallas want to help LeBron?

Mavs won’t see another Christmas game, they not gonna be on prime time ever again, and won’t beat the lakers in the playoffs as long as Luka lives and breaths- Luka is a boot came with Googgins away from being Michael Jordan and they moved him for the SECOND best laker -

[McMahon] I've had multiple people within the Mavericks used the term "held hostage" as how they felt about being you know the the entire franchise relying on Luka with this looming $350 million commitment coming this summer

You could have gotten Devin Booker who would provide at least some energy vs. an aging AD.

You honestly wouldn't have done Mitchell?

Damn. Thread moved. Anyway, Luka is nearly 300 pounds and monopolizes the offense while playing no defense. Also cries on every possession. Mavs saw this up close. AD puts his hard hat on every night and rescues his team from questionable perimeter defensive effort while expecting to get 25+ on offense. One team got duped.

AD’s not chopped liver. Lakers would always have gotten a haul for him if they decided to trade him. It’s just the players skill sets and rosters of both teams that makes this trade so head scratching to me. Obviously Luka’s younger but AD has at least 3-4 prime years left.
