I wish he would, though.

Yes but nobody going be wearing mavs jersey if Luka in a laker uniform

It's all good. They have revenue sharing. The Mavs don't need fans in order to make money.

Why would Dallas want to help LeBron?

You’re a paid LeBron shill. I’ve learned my lesson to never engage in a debate with you, or your many other accounts, because you have no problem with lying if you think it’ll help you win the argument

I have these guys on ignore list. As you said its like arguing with a bot.

Ongoing restitution for the Lakers signing Timofey Mosgov in the opening moments of FA 2016.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Nico Harrison:

“I understand why they would be shocked, initially,” Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison told The News. “But I do believe that we positioned ourselves to win now and also win in the future.

“And that’s ultimately the goal and why we’re here. It’s one of those things where it’s my job to make the tough decisions that put our goals first and foremost.”

Harrison told The News that he and Pelinka began having “basketball” conversations more than a month ago.

“Then all of a sudden we’re like, ‘Would you ever do this?’

‘Nah, you’re joking, right?’

‘Hmm. Interesting. Maybe I would.’

Added Harrison: “And then it just built over time over the last three weeks.”

“We really feel like we got ahead of what was going to be a tumultuous summer, him being eligible for the supermax and also a year away from him being able to opt out of any contract,” Harrison said. “And so we really felt like we got out in front of that. We know teams, they’ve had it out there, teams have been loading up to try to sign him once that comes available.”

“We really feel that defense wins championships, and we think the players that we’re bringing in add to the culture, which is important to what J-Kidd and I have been building here from day one,” Harrison said.

“And then obviously, when you get an all NBA player who’s also a first team All-Defensive player, we think that’s gonna help us where we need it the most, on the defensive end.”

“I think if you look at the Cleveland Cavaliers, that’s what you’re going to see,” said Harrison, a reference to Cleveland’s imposing frontcourt of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. “Anthony’s probably going to finish games at the five, but you’re going to see those guys play together. And when Lakers won, he played the four.”

Harrison said that as of early Sunday morning, he had not communicated directly with Doncic, but, rather Doncic’s agent Bill Duffy.

Harrison said he did text and leave a phone message for Doncic.

“My guess is he probably doesn’t want to talk to me,” Harrison said.

Lakers REALLY **** up. GG.

Irving can’t run an offense.

But I do agree… this isn’t as good of a trade for LA as people are making it out to be.

Yes he can. Lol. And he will. We shall see

No, he can’t. How many Irving games have you watched?

I agree with you normally, but you're wrong about this one. Mavs won this- it only looks crazy due to the shock. But once the dust settles, AD acquisition is one of the best ones Dallas has made in a looooong time.

That's not how it works. The commissioner has a obligation to keep the integrity of the game intact.

So not vetoing the trade tells us all we need to know about this soap opera ****.

I don’t think that’s how this all works. Silver can’t just veto a trade because he doesn’t like it.

It looks like the league is being manipulated. Why do the lakers get every star player every 10 years? If you ranked the packages from every team this would be bottom 10.

The Lakers/Lebron conspiracy talk is absurd and a result of the modern WWW and social media. So the Lakers get Luka, so what? Does anybody really have any confidence that Jeannie Buss and her crew know exactly what they're doing? They've had Lebron/AD all this time and it's not exactly like they've been wildly successful since the 2020 season. And if it takes Luka being traded to start taking his conditioning and the off-season more seriously then thats a red flag in of itself. Also in regards to them possibly getting another star to play with Luka down the line, in the modern NBA having two superstars doesn't even guarantee a Finals appearance nowadays.

I will say that the potential bad part about this trade for front offices and possibly fans in the league is I could see every top 10 player either explicitly asking for no-trade clauses 24/7 or they all start doing short team deals that KD/Lebron did for awhile and Jordan did towards the end of his Bulls career. Luka being traded is going to send a signal to all the elite players more than ever to not leave their careers and where they play in the hands of these franchises.

That is 100% how it works.

Using the CP3 trade as an example makes no sense... Because again, David Stern, the NBA commissioner at the time was simultaneously acting as the owner/governor of the Pelicans.

I assume he demanded to go to LA. Because if not, why not have an all out trade war for him? There is no doubt they could’ve gotten so much more in return from other teams.

Just for what little they got in return. I feel like it has to be one of 2 things.

1. He demanded a trade only to LA and made it known he was going to bounce to free agency in 2 summers unless it was to the Lakers

2. There is massive red flags with his medical that we’re don’t know about.

Luka is basically like the modern Shaq. When he's not playing basketball whether injured or not his conditioning and weight probably get all out of whack but it never matters because of how ridiculously elite he is when he's on the court. But it does make me wonder if Shaq acted the way he did in these current times with the bigger salaries and supermaxes would some teams be wary of throwing that much money on him based on said habits. Even with all of Luka's success there have been no signs from day one that he really takes the off-season seriously and maybe the Mavs thought that similar to Shaq, Luka honestly felt no need to change his habits because he's been a top 5 NBA player all this time anyway.

I think the Mavs GM is also feeling himself a little too much and unfortunately there are a few NBA GMs who act the same way(Booth, Horst, Pelinka, others). I also think that the Mavs organization is probably smelling themselves by a lot because there's not a chance in hell that a small market team trades a top 3 player in his 20s who didn't ask to be traded or said they wanted out. A lot of these new owners think they are the smartest people in the room even when sports are not their expertise.

Ya that’s the thing. The weight thing isn’t enough of a reason for this return. I can see it being enough of a reason that Dallas got to the point of wanting to trade him. If it got to the point where everyone in the front office have gotten to the point where they’re all tired of Luka (kind of like how it feels with the Pels and Zion at this point).

But if that was the reasoning to trade him. That still doesn’t give a reason why they didn’t open this up and have a trade war for Luka. The weight thing isn’t enough to turn off teams from getting into a trade war for him.

This really feels like there is some shady stuff going on, or most likely a front office and new ownership who think they’re the smartest people in the room.

How did the Mavs not even get an elite prospect like Bronny to even out the deal.

Literally incorrect. This man forced a owner to sell his team because he didn't like him practicing his right to free speech in the privacy of his own home. Where was the precedent for that??

"The constitution does not lay out specific scenarios in which the commissioner has the authority to nullify a transaction. It simply grants him the blanket authority to do so as he sees fit.

So naw. The integrity of the game is dead and they will continue to bleed viewers because people are now woke to the rot that is the fix. It's that bad. The league is dying.

Am I the only one that thinks this trade isn't that big of a deal.

Sure in terms of shock factors, nothing beats the trade. And media is going to have a field day talking about this all week and most importantly this will overshadow the superbowl.

The trade was a business decision by the NBA who is desperate for ratings and to satisfy the media company that bought the TV rights.

At the end of the day, two contenders decided to tank their season. Dallas has a shot if kyrie and AD are fully healthy by playoffs and that's never a guarantee.

Lakers had a good thing going but decided to plan for the future. They will be looking to trade LeBron for picks and to set up a future. Probably also look to trade AR for picks and more help.

Luka while a genetional star will need help. Lakers will need to rebuild with a whole new cast. They will need picks which they don't have and will need a PF, a C, back up point guard etc etc.

For Lakers the trade will be probably evaluated in the next 3-5 years. For the mavs, they have two years to win. They will probably look to offload AD next off season or trade deadline.

Business wise Lakers and the NBA made out like bandits. The NBA has a potential star to market around which is exactly what the NBA needed. I will leave that for the conspiracy theorists to evaluate. At the end of the day, Luka will need to start caring about his legacy and be in shape and take the off season seriously. That will remain to be seen.
