Feel for Mavs fans. I even heard some fans say this won’t even be worth it if they won the championship with AD and Kyrie. There’s something way more special when you win a championship with the guy you drafted, see them grow as a kid losing tough playoff series to eventually winning it all. There’s nothing sweeter. You literally had a superstar, a top 3-5 player in the league for the next decade and you threw it all away for players who already have won a ring with different organizations. The feeling isn’t the same.

Don't be part of this garbage any longer than you have to.

Happened with Dwight Howard. It could happen again

Find me a single Mavs fan sold on this. Mavs Reddit is in flames burning everything down. Most claim to be done (we know how that goes)

Yep. Our fandom (probably) doesn't disappear. It just morphs into, "Yeah, it's rigged, but it's still fun." Mostly, we forget it's rigged while the fun part is happening. Then, every once in a while, something like this snaps us back to reality.

The "we" here being a minority of fans, of course. Most are clueless or in permanent denial, though I hate to say it.

Right now, looks like the worst trade in the history of the NBA. The Nets, Celtics trade suddenly doesn’t look that bad in comparison. What was Dallas thinking? At least get all their firsts and swaps, then the trade starts to make some sense. Even then, some late picks from the Lakers aren’t that good. Unbelievable.

Davis is a good player, don’t get me wrong. If somehow they win a couple titles, all the negativity about the trade goes out the window.

Keep thinking that with some 2025 goggles on. This literally just reshaped the West for years to come.

We're talking about Los Angeles. This city was already going to attract a star free agent in the near future but instead of having an old washed up AD now that star will have Luka alongside to win multiple rings. The Lakers essentially figured out their future post LeBron without having to tank and whilst also setting themselves up for some rings at the same time.

Don't be surprised when a guy like Anthony Edwards requests a trade to LA in the next couple of years.

This says that he didnt plan to sign an extension with Dallas. The trade makes a lot more sense that way.

Lol the mavs fans turning on their franchise only to find out their golden boy stabbed them in the back.

AD puts his hard hat on every night and rescues his team from questionable perimeter defensive effort while expecting to get 25+ on offense. One team got duped.

The hole is already dug Camby just lay in it at this point.

What's pissing me off the most is the cowardly sports media trying to spin this as anything other than collusion and corruption. They are scared of Silver and now saying crap like Luka is fat, Luka hates the Mavs, Luka is not a championship player, Luka can't play defense, Luka not worth supermax etc

Anything to make this trade look fair

I mean, here's a hint, guys: the most common reaction to this - maybe 90% of people - was, "I can't believe this is real."

Because it's not.

The NBA is an entertainment business, and it functions in such a way as to make money by entertaining people.

It's not real. It's show business. And the Lakers are The Show.

I wouldn't rely on a hack like Reiter. Nobody else who is actually closer to the Mavs is reporting this.

So essentially it isn't true until proven otherwise.

NBA commissioner has the power to do what they want. No trade will happen without passing him first. If both teams have agreed there's about 0 chance he'll intertwine. People bring up Stern blocking Chris Paul to the Lakers back in the day but a lot of them don't know that was solely because the Hornets at the time were managed by the NBA due to the teams ownership issues and Stern, being the one person in charge of the league and the Hornets, saw it as a a conflict of interests if he traded Paul to LA and make them the best team in the league.

You're not firing the commissioner for protecting the integrity of the game.

No matter what you or anyone else says. This trade has destroyed the integrity and credibility of the game.

It's that bad. You'll be hearing about this for decades. Worse than the frozen envelope theory in the NBA lottery.

The NBA commish is a dictator pretty much with unilateral power to do what they want. And the way the League is set up it's the best option to have just one person in charge. The team owners are a in a group and the players are in a union with both sides agreeing to the CBA so the league operates. The owners can by majority vote to have the commissioner outed. Silver has been around for a long time though, serving as Sterns right hand man and groomed to be his successor. He is very deeply rooted in the league history and while imo he's been bad, the changes he's made come with the backing of team owners and the union.

The trade is very odd though. The fact there wasn't any leaks and 3 teams were involved means it happened very quick. Luka might have a more serious injury but medicals must have been waved by LAL given how quick it happened. There 100% was discontent with AD on the team btw. Luka is a much better player but who fills the 4/5 rotation now for LAL? Lebron will want to compete surely. Or there's a plan to trade him next.

DAL side makes 0 sense though unless the injury is more severe. I don't believe the owners wouldn't shell out for his extension and alienating the fans by doing this was surely a given.
