If they are cool with giving Berger a shot at backup PG it seems like the only other need they could have is backup center. They can play with so much size and shooting.

Clark/Berger
Mitchell/Lexie/Wallace
Sophie/Bonner
Howard/KLS/Saxton
Boston/Dantas

I think their defense is pretty equal but Cunningham is the better overall player.

Bonner starts at SF. Having Hull and Cunningham off the bench is insane depth.

The Liberty need to trade for Natasha Cloud now that Vandersloot is leaving.

Really? Shes super old and shoots low 30% from 3pt. Is she as good on perimeter defense as Sophie/Lexie? Seems like they would want to focus on 3pt shooting and PoA defense for their 5th starting spot. Sophie sounds like the best fit for that.

I could see it switching throughout the season at the 3, but DB starting the season as the starter makes sense.

She's a vet that played a major role on a team that gave the Lynx a hell of a series a few months ago.

And gave the Fever fits when she guarded Clark.

I'm kind of with you.

Part of me thinks Fever best lineup has Howard on the bench now.

Bonner seems like the second best player on the team now. She's old but very good. Kind of by a unique style too as she is very tall but can play like a guard a bit.

And then I just think Cunningham is kind of the perfect 3/D role player to round it out.

So Bonner at the 4? Can Howard play small ball 5, because their bench lineup could look more sensible with her coming off the bench as a 4/5 combo. Just saw Berger got cut fyi.

starters: Clark ~ Mitchell ~ Sophie ~ Bonner ~ Boston
bench 5: ? ~ Lexie ~ KLS ~ Dantas ~ Howard

Bonner isn't a great shooter but even at this age she's still better than Cunningham and Hull.

Bonner is an excellent player. People forgot how DB and CC got into it during the playoffs

I can assure every Fever fan, Clark was probably ecstatic when she heard this news.

I have to put the Fever as a top 4 team right now.

I was thinking Top 3, but that's probably putting too much stock in the Aces' terrible off-season so far. I think they have gotten worse already, and certainly if they lose Hayes and don't pull a rabbit out of their hat to find another big that can score.
Although Chelsea Gray looks fantastic in Unrivaled.

If the Mercury add the right pieces, I think they could surpass that Aces too.

Didn’t she play SF for the Sun? Why wouldn’t DB do the same for the Fever?

Seems like they just upgraded their two weakest starters and add Sophie as a nice depth piece (wasn’t impressed with their depth last season) to go along with Hull.

I'm not benching either Bonner or Howard for Cunningham.

Clark/Mitchell/Bonner/Howard/Boston is an insane starting 5. I'm actually kind of nervous here.

Gray looks like she's back to her old self.

I think Kelsey Plum is better than Jewel Loyd, but she is still gonna cook people.

A'ja is the best player in the world.

I wouldn't count them out but am I scared of them as a Liberty fan? No.

Probably a BonnerCinningham split given Bonner's age, but yes.

If I had to pick a favorite team it would be Seattle, and if Jewell is anything like last year, then this trade is a total disaster, imo.

Jewell making $250K is a pretty big problem (aside from the optics of all the other stars making $200K or less so the team could build a contender).

It all but eliminates the option to bring back Hayes, who frankly might be better than Jewell. Hayes was making $80K last year. If she keeps lighting up Unrivaled, she could double that this year. Valkyries will absolutely throw a monster offer. She'd be a perfect fit for Seattle, Chicago, Phoenix, or LA, among others.

It also made it incredibly difficult to sign Bri Jones or BG.

Instead of Jewell (and let's say maybe Cheyenne Parker Tyus), they probably could have had Tip, Bri Jones, and the #2 pick.

This feels like a trade they did so they could get a "name for a name" to save face. The sort of thing you do with no GM.

And btw, Her Hoop Stats, aside from being awesome all-around, has pretty up to date Team Cap Sheets.

Thanks for this.

I take solace in the fact that the Liberty will still have Fiebich and Sabally 2.0 under contract when the free agent wars start.
