Mavs/Kings

Post#1 » by sackings916 » Sun Feb 2, 2025 5:41 pm

Mavs trade:
Dereck Lively
PJ Washington
Naji Marshall
DAL 2025 1st
OKC 2028 1st
SAS 2030 1st

Kings trade:
De’Aaron Fox

Why for Dal- they add Fox to Kyrie/AD

Why for Sac- they add size to their frontcourt/wing and gain draft capital

Dallas needs a wing to add to Kyrie & AD and this is an overpay for Fox

Something similar suggested last night. I think a 3rd team is needed, but I also don't think mavs do this.
Gm said its about defense, believe him or not, I don't think they trade luka to commit to fox/kyrie backcourt and trade away all their length

I think the value is still lacking. Needs a prospect to manke the deal tangible.

I gotta ask how this is an overpay.
Fox (former all-star in prime)

For

A promising, yet limited young big
2 role players
3 firsts from teams that should be top-10 in standings in the years of the picks. (Aka late firsts)

Dallas doesn’t own the Spurs 2030 1st. The Spurs have swap rights for the Mavs 2030 1st, so Mavs would be trading the lesser of their first or Spurs first.

After listening to Mavs press conference it sounds like they want to keep their frontcourt together and probably settle for an OK offense with an elite defense.

He’s due a huge new contract and hasn’t really contributed to a successful team in his entire career.

I consider Lively a mid first so for me, 4 firsts an overpay when there are better trade targets (better fitting and better assets with respect to their contracts) than Fox.

Dallas can’t trade the 2028 first (lol)

And I don’t think pairing Kyrie and Fox is the best bet honestly.
