I assume he demanded to go to LA. Because if not, why not have an all out trade war for him? There is no doubt they could’ve gotten so much more in return from other teams.

Just for what little they got in return. I feel like it has to be one of 2 things.

1. He demanded a trade only to LA and made it known he was going to bounce to free agency in 2 summers unless it was to the Lakers

2. There is massive red flags with his medical that we’re don’t know about.

Surprised more people aren’t bringing this up as a possibility. Top 5 trade asset goes for a suspiciously low amount after being banged up the entire playoffs, barely being able to move for Slovenia during the summer, missing the entire pre-season, and playing 22 of 49 games this year WHILE HE’S STILL OUT INJURED. That doesn’t bring up absolutely MASSIVE red flags to anyone?

I’m guessing Luka’s injuries are much more serious than anyone knows and this trade is either going to get cancelled when they do the physical or else the Lakers are getting sold a damaged bill of goods.

I would fire Nico Harrison immediately. One of the worst trades in NBA history. The Mavs gave up a 25-year-old generational talent for an injury plagued 31-year-old center to pair with a 32-year-old injury plagued PG. They now have 3 bigs and one less player maker.

Once again, the Lakers keep lucking out, and land a successor to LeBron without drafting one.

You’re a paid LeBron shill. I’ve learned my lesson to never engage in a debate with you, or your many other accounts, because you have no problem with lying if you think it’ll help you win the argument

I have these guys on ignore list. As you said its like arguing with a bot.

I’ve been here for 18 years and I’ve never used my IL before but I think I will now. People like him ruin this site as well as the rest of the internet. We come here for an honest conversation, what’s the point of engaging with someone who you know is lying through his teeth? I wish everyone would put him and his alt accounts on IL so I wouldn’t have to read the posts of people who get suckered into debating him

Really? Let me reiterate my own point from 1am.

The Clippers sent Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, five first-round picks and four first-round pick swaps in exchange for Paul **** George.

You was saying? George is worth all that but Luka is only worth a single pick a half decade from now and the pushing 32 year old David who is good for 30 missed games a year?

Give me a break. It really is that bad.

I'm not saying the Mavericks didn't get fleeced, they absolutely did. But I don't think the Lakers benefit from this trade as much as people think.

For one thing, they still don't have a center. Unless they can manage to find one via trade before the deadline, they aren't in any better of a position now than they were before.

Second, and probably more importantly, Luka and LeBron aren't a good fit. They'll be more compatible than Westbrook/LeBron was due to Luka being able to spread the floor but at the end of the day, you still have two ball dominant players who don't play defense and one of them is 40 and the other has trouble staying on the court.

Lakers have their superstar player after LeBron retires but if people think this is going to lead them to a deep playoff run... they may find themselves disappointed.

I agree this isn't a win-now move, but Luka took a Dwight Powell team to the WCF when he was 23.

And LeBron went heavily off-ball with Russ and basically turned into a scorer. That was with dicks-for-hands Russ.

I call bull. What team would of had the cap space to just sign him and Dallas lose him for nothing? Wasn't going to happen. It would of almost certainly be a sign and trade and Dallas could have still got a haul.

That Lakers and Miami for 2. Miami already made it clear they wanted max space in 2026 which is why they wouldn't extend Butler. LeBron is a FA in 2026 and LA was only going to have AD, Reaves on a player option, Vanderbilt, Christie and Knecht. They would have had under 110 million in cap space with the salary cap set to be around $170-$175K and easily could have moved a little more if they needed to. They could have paired AD and Luka. But they were definitely set to clear the space. It wasn't a secret Luka is enamored with Hollywood.

I don't think they're legit contenders.

At least for this year this trade makes Dallas better and Lakers worse. Still got ripped off but if Davis stays healthy they can make a run

probably the most out of nowhere trade in nba history. dallas must be fed up with Luka handling behind the scenes. I actually like it for this year's Mavs. Anthony davis and Kyrie looks interesting with their depth. Lakers can extend their window a bit. I like it for both teams, but man was my head spinning last night.

Woke up like WTF. I don't know what to think about this trade. I know for one, the Lakers D becomes vulnerable because AD covered up a lot.

This saga is going to go on and on and I'm here for it.

Don't worry, I'm sure Utah will gift the Lakers Walker Kessler for a 2nd round Pick at this point. Or maybe the Pelicans just give them Valanciünas for free. Cause why not?

Something I've been wondering... if Luka is supposedly still in shock over this and isn't happy about the move, does this serve as a wake-up call to him to take better care of his body and go on an actual diet now? I'm very curious as to how he responds to all of this.

O'neal wasn't traded to LA, he signed there as a FA.
