I think we can all agree that the Celtics need some help this season and changes are coming for next season...

Don’t agree. They need motivation this season, and then especially with the franchise for sale I have no idea what the future (beyond this season) holds.

Generally us fans get bored and want changes to the roster — the Celtics have either the best roster in the league or very close to it — need to play closer to their potential to win another title

No team is touching Sam this season because of the back issue. Next year he’ll come back and be better and most teams will call up inquiring.

Not impressed with Rico, but it was the 30th pick. I’ll chalk it up as a reach. He’s a 2nd round talent in the 40’s.
He may be a smart player but he is slow as hell. I know some has mentioned that as a Luka comparison but when he was on the court the other night with PP they looked like twins ,height and weight.
Luka is a big boy and even plays big when need be.
Also, Rico’s shot is far from effortless looking.

I prefer Drew over Rico.

That's right. Harper is gone.
We still have his G League Rights, if he comes back.

Brown for KD or LeBald. I would do that trade every day and twice on Sundays. We get better short term and Brown’s long term money comes off the books giving us a ton of options.

Sam isn’t worth moving now. He isn’t making enough yet and he’s played terrible this season. I keep Jrue because he and White have tremendous chemistry on both ends. You can’t place a number on that.

Springer I would keep because his defense could come in handy and his salary isn’t big enough. I would definitely move Horford and his money for a playable big though. He’s cooked. Attach pics.

Trading a Finals MVP for 40 year old Lebron, sounds nuts. Do we have to set aside 4 roster spots for Klutch clients who are otherwise without NBA employment? Lebron is one the great Celtic villains, I want nothing to do with him. He carries so much negative baggage, I’d literally rather have Bill Laimbeer in Celtics green than Lebron James.

I can't imagine having to root for LeBron after all these years. I'd rather watch Jaylen dribble into 3 dudes and turn it over every possession of the game.

If the Celtics can’t combine salaries then why change the roster? They can’t get anyone who would help them.

I'm good with trading Springer or X for tax purposes.

I understand Springer's cost vs. benefit doesn't really balance given the tax implications but I've really enjoyed his minutes of late. He's brought the kind of defensive energy/urgency that this team has lacked all season. Realistically he doesn't have a path to minutes in important games but I still like having him on the roster as a wildcard. I can imagine a playoff series against the Knicks or Bucks where we're struggling to disrupt Brunson or Dame's game and we send him out there to create some havoc and pick up a few fouls that we don't want White/Jrue saddled with. Joe doesn't seem to trust him so it's a moot point but that's the vision I always had for him on this team.

Tillman seems like he may be cooked. It's probably the knee. I liked his fit stylistically for our frontcourt in a very similar fashion to Springer in our backcourt, but just doesn't appear to be on the cards. With Kornet playing so well and Queta having upside, let him go if anyone will take him.

I'm happy to trade those guys just for the cost savings, but also willing to add a 1st or two if we're netting back someone who would be able to break into the rotation immediately. I'm not interested in any deal where we're adding 1st round picks and getting back a guy who could make it into the rotation. We need cheap rotation pieces in the future and the ideal way to do that is landing guys in the draft, but it's definitely a crapshoot, so happy to try and cut a corner to add them now but would rather gamble on hitting on a pick than a guy who isn't good enough now to be in our rotation turning a corner and getting there in the near future.

Beyond that the only guy I'd seriously consider trading is Jrue.

No one else in the top 8 warrants consideration based on age/value/contract/production. Tatum/Brown are the core, White has emerged as possibly the #3 guy (especially on his new deal). KP is too important/difficult to replace. Horford unlikely to fetch much due to age/recent play. Pritchard and Hauser both are great value on their new deals and we'll need that going forward.

Everyone else on the roster is cheap and/or have too little value to warrant moving.

Jrue is having a down year, is turning 35 this summer and has a contract that is inevitably going to be paying him far in excess of his on court value. His stats aren't just down in the "sacrificing for the greater good" sense, his efficiency has dropped, his defense isn't there and there's been times where you start to question whether he's losing a step.

I'm not saying you trade him just for the sake of trading him, but this team inevitably has to cut salary to accommodate having two supermax guys and Jrue feels like the odd-man out. With the level of play we're currently getting out of him it's feasible that we could make a lateral move by adding multiple cheaper depth pieces. We don't have to take a huge step backwards this year and it'd set us up to carry the above core further without having to make additional drastic moves in the next couple years.

I'd look to get a big that could be the heir apparent to Horford and/or a strong 3&D wing. Would need to get back contracts that could let us dip below the 2nd apron this season or at the very least in the summer which improves our ability to re-tool as needed.

I'm not actively trying to get rid of Jrue, but especially as things like the Luka and Fox trades shake things loose, I'd be very much open to the possibility if it meant we could accomplish the above objectives. If nothing presents itself 100% on board taking this team to the playoffs and hoping Jrue shines there.

Celtics would be fools in my opinion not moving forward with Tatum, Brown and DWhite. All three quality players, winners, locked up for multiple years and most importantly in today's NBA cause no drama at all. I think as long as you have those three on the team the Celtics will always be contenders. Just one person's opinion.

I don't care who gets moved as long as we get a decent center back in return.

I kinda think this team should be allowed to try to repeat but I would definitely listen to Jaylen offers. I’m just not a fan of his game but I do recognize the vital part he played in our title run.

That’s a common misconception. The Celtics CAN combine salaries as long as the deal results in them getting under the 2nd apron.

Honestly, I can’t really get around the construction of this team.
When we last won it, in 2008, we had Rajon Rondo, Leon Powe, Big Baby Davis & Tony Allen contributing on rookie deals
We also signed veteran minimum free agents: James Posey, PJ Brown, Eddie House, Sam Cassell who contributed on 1 yr deals for a chance at a ring

Our current playoff rotation, NO contributor is on a rookie deal, and NO contributor took a veteran minimum to chase a ring. So the team is so expensive, it’s not clear if the financials are sustainable or if we are gonna be dumping salary obligations before the deadline. Guess we’ll find out this week

That is true. It won’t happen so it’s not worth talking about is I guess my point.
