this is so bad...this is like a home owner selling his home to someone who offered 5 dollars because that 5 dollars is all he has.

I feel bad for you all and we should all boycott this stupid game.

As far as I know.

My point is, you needed Luka trade to start posting here again and it's far more toxic environment than ever here. Kinda funny, don't you think?

No it’s not. This team could sign Jesus himself to play PG and you guys would complain. Why does he keep walking on water? Why doesn’t he just miracle his shot in. Jesus is fat why doesn’t he work out. This board has been beyond toxic.

As much as you guys have talked about Luka’s weight, lack of defense, crying to the ref’s and as much as you all hated Maxi I honestly thought you guys would be throwing a party here. That’s honestly the main reason I came here to read what yall were talking about. Now yall are mad that Luka is gone? But that’s what yall wanted! Lol

There is a saying… be careful what you wish for, because now you have it.

Absolutely, if the team is healthy they are a contender. Being healthy is a big ask however that can be said for any contending team. The if healthy though (and motivated) is one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. Good luck scoring inside on their new front court. AD is also a DPOY candidate. There’s no question their defense got better with this trade.

Now does this trade put them over the top? No it doesn’t. It does keep them in the mix though with the top teams.

I expect they are going to make another trade to either acquire a scorer or another PG. Would Utah be willing to part with Collin Sexton? What about Sexton AND Jordan Clarkson? Not sure how realistic that is but my point is I feel there is another move coming. That’s why the Luka trade went down now as opposed to Thursday.

From Luka to Clarkson and Sexton

Basketball is not just about adding players. Team with Lively/Gafford and AD on the court would need exactly player like Luka or bad spacing would kill offense. Kyrie is absolutely wrong guard for that lineup, Sexton is not saving anything, he's not Pg either and you don't want to pair Kyrie and Sexton anyway, because you will lose all advantage AD brings in D.

I guess you forgot who was the main player in more or less all Mavs playoff wins. Even prime AD couldn't do staff Luka did and he will be 32 in a month.

You know I seem to remember how you and everyone here hating the Kyrie trade because “two ball dominant guards will NEVER be able to play together”. The spacing will be terrible. How did that work out?

Now you’re telling me that Kyrie and AD will NEVER work together because of the spacing. I think I’m going to pass on your assessment and wait and see how things pan out.

That’s what I’m saying! Defensively the Mavs are light years better than they were, with AD playing the 4 next to Lively or Gaff. They’re also not done making moves I suspect. Can they get a PG? Do they make a trade for a guy like Collin Sexton?

Mavs are in a tough spot to do any more trades. Salary wise, they basically traded all they could. Unless Nico decides to do a complete reshuffle but bench has been solid when Luka was playing.

Also keep in mind, Mavs paid extra 2nd round pick to the Jazz to get rid of Doncic. So yeah, the entire thing is incredible and i'm not sure what else they can do to get a good playmaker next to Kyrie because Kyrie is a 2 not a 1. On top of it all, defense with Luka was actually really good this year, so trade like this wasn't needed at all.

We are not privy to what was going on behind the scenes with Luka. Maybe he’s actually put on weight since he’s been out? Maybe Luka has hinted he wants out? We honestly really don’t know.

I do know that Nico was right about defense winning Championships.

I mean, Luka was sitting on the sidelines and walking with the team in these past few games. He didn't look like he gained weight. There are also recent practice videos of him shooting the ball and he looks basically the same. With all the backlash Nico will get in the next days, Mavs pr. are going to be doing some very heavy damage control. Don't believe every story coming from them.

Nico already said Luka is ghosting him on the phone, you know he's pissed and he said many times he wants to stay in Dallas.

This trade could (maybe) be good for this year but Kyrie and Klay are not getting younger and neither is AD. This trade absolutely killed Mavs future because they don't own a lot of their draft capital moving forward.

Also, Mavs defense with Luka was not bad at all, you might want to check it again, offense on the other hand will suffer in Kidd's system because Kyrie won't be able to do it solo on the perimeter.

You're trading 25 old superstar because he gained weight? And you got back 32 years old player made of glass? Narrative about being afraid of Luka's conditioning died in the moment they traded for much older and more injury prone player.

I don't believe you honestly believe that ****.

Hey you guys were the ones always bitching about Luka’s weight. You should be happy he’s gone, isn’t that what you wanted?

Also I never said the trade was perfect. I just said that the trade keeps the Mavs in contention, which it does. Obviously the compensation is bad for a player of Luka’s caliber. The Mavs were never going to get proper compensation though. So even though I think the Mavs could have gotten a better deal this trade keeps them in contention.

I’ve always thought the biggest threat to losing Luka would be his desire to play in Europe. He’s not going to be a 20 year NBA player like Dirk, Labron or Kobe. He will likely play out the last several years of his career playing closer to home.

And that is with an unhappy AD. And with AD playing out of position. He now gets to move back to his natural position of PF. He also has two defensive centers (not just 1) to play alongside. Having Lively, Gaff, and PJ should help keep AD’s minutes down which should also help his health.

We will see though. Just have to let this thing play out.

Playing Pf without spacing will help his game?

First off he will provide some of that spacing because he’s also a 3pt threat. He’s not great from 3 but he is a legit threat. Also as I stated the Mavs are likely not done trading. Let’s see who else they can get with 3 FRP’s at their disposal. If they want a guy like Markkanen they could still trade for him. There’s still a ton of options for them.

Personally, last thing I care about is where Luka stans are at, I have been denied the privilige of watching all time basketball genius on regular basis playing for my favourite team, and I have no clue why this happened, but hurray, Luka stans are moving , LFG!!!

I am mostly a reader, but I felt the need to log in just to say - oh boy... if only you knew how toxic you are. I mean, I understand positivity, even if it's misplaced, etc., but your constant arguing with anyone who doesn't share your feelings takes toxicity to another level.
So, what exactly is your hope in reality? That everyone who doesn’t share your delusional views simply disappears? That’s just silly, considering you're part of the "toxicity" problem...

You must be mistaken me for someone. So called real Mavs fans were bitching about Luka all the time. I hope they are glad now.

What contention? They have lost 13 of last 20 games. We should believe that AD will miraculously change one of the worst team in the Nba to title contender?
