I of course don’t do it but if you were ever going to move Giannis you’re not getting a better player than Luka, him alone blows OKC or Utah poo poo platter of middling picks & future role players out of the water.

Future draft lottery victories.

Yeah, if this was truly about winning immediately and needing a two way PF, then they should have offered the Bucks Luka, Lively, Mavs 25 1st, and Mavs 31 1st for Giannis and filler.

And there is the Bucks reset. You could then have moved Dame, Brook, Mids, and Portis and have an instant contender.

Giannis is better than Luka but they’re damn close and Luka is younger. I would’ve done that.

Luka was going to eat/drink himself out of the league before this trade

In 5 years, Giannis will still be better than Luka.

Maybe you're right. But Giannis will be pretty old at that point while Luka should have some great years in his 30s. It's tough with the loyalty to Giannis involved and acknowledging Giannis is better, but I still think I'd do it. It's a good question

If we had any semblance of assets I’d say buy low on Zion
Bucks tricked me into being a diehard in 2001, LeBron is the 2nd best player ever, and pizza is awesome.

Luka bounces from here in 18 months. Don't underestimate the value of having a player as good as Giannis willing to stay here for the bulk of his career, if not all of it.

Well let's assume Luka stays until retirement, both would in this case either way. Would you do it?

And if we are lucky enough to draft another star over the next 20+ years they will remember what we did to Giannis and leave ASAP

I don't think a toddler rn would care that we traded Giannis for Luka, it would be a justifiable decision at the very least.

Yes, very close. Unless you think rebounding, playing defense and being continually double teamed are important.

This doesn't really hit for me when Luka brought his team to the finals at 25 in the West last year. Luka is great in different ways than Giannis, and that's okay
