Kyrie trades?

Post#1 » by Dr Positivity » Sun Feb 2, 2025 10:36 pm

Kyrie has a player option this summer, should Mavs really be counting on keeping on such an unpredictable player? Kyrie for Butler?

Green font? That’s what the 2031 first and Reaves are for. They just split it up to make Dallas fans feel like they won one trade.

He seemed so happy with Luka...if they change KI, not only will I stop supporting Dallas...I'll start hating them for breaking my heart

Pj gafford and kyrie didnt play today. Most likely on tjeir way out, or they handed in traderequests

While I think it’s more to do with it being a b2b against a team they probably can’t beat and a lot going on

Trade demands would be the best thing for Dallas imo. Not being dramatic. Trading those 3 and AD and getting into the top/bottom 8 this year and the worst next year? That sets Dallas up better..

I think you keep Kyrie. Trade the 2025 first for someone that can create their own offense at a pretty high level and keep going.

But Kyrie trades feel like it should start a real rebuild. Butler too old considering the pick debt.

Fox too big a flight risk realistically. Trae too valuable…

Anyone comparable to Kyrie is likely worth a lot more than him due to his contract and his past.

I’d rather add Ingram to Kyrie/AD? I don’t think either Kyrie or Ingram command full max deals, so think the Vegas guys can spend to the first apron?

Though I really didn’t look at numbers.

No idea how I feel about the direct swap. Gets younger but worse imo, Ingram seems willing to take the most money from anyone willing to offer it, so no flight risk at all.

I don’t see Dallas emptying the team. If that was the goal, Luka could have brought in much more in terms of picks by going to SAS or Brooklyn.

Oh I agree. Dallas has two top “20” players for the next couple years. Make a move add another top 40-50 player and pretend. “One lucky run” dreams..

But it would be better to just bottom out. And maybe if everyone demands out, they’d have no choice.. Say Dallas lost “20-30%%” of Luka’s value by settling for AD and the first? One day later, it’s already a sunk cost. Or more. same story.

Kyrie to San Antonio or Denver makes far too much sense. Idk how much Dallas would want Murray over him or really what San Antonio would give up? Sochan or Castle, CP3, plus pick(s)?

FWIW, Kyrie alluded to having things lined up to get AD ready to come to Boston at the time he said he wanted to re-sign before his disastrous last season. He did a livestream talking about he meant it when he said that but then had a tough personal year which explained in part why the relationship with the team soured. He didn’t say it was AD he had lined up to come but that heavily rumored at the time so it’d make sense that it was him.

I think kai wants to keep playing with luka. Iirc his contract ends in the summer if he wants right? Lebron didnt sound very sure about another season. So kyrie could probably just opt out and sign with lakers?

fwiw reports out of Dallas today, that Kyrie is lined up to opt out and sign a new long-term deal in Dallas this summer. And yes, I know its Kyrie and that makes that report basically meaningless. Just mentioning it since I think Dallas clearly plans on moving forward with an AD/Kyrie core as dumb as that sounds when you had Luka Doncic 2 days ago.

Agree with Jay, Dallas is much more likely to try and trade for another guy who can create offense consistently.

I see him staying. I’d assume ( could be wrong) that he is excited to play with AD. Kyrie gets a larger ball handling role and has a defensive anchor behind him.
