I've barely followed the nba over the last 3 years and i'm still in shock over this.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Bird had a serious back injury, but I also have no idea what he has to do with anything.

yeah then years went by and he got fat and became eligible for a supermax.
who wants to bet with this calf injury he put on 30 pounds. if this is about his weight and health and money then the dallas owners might not be as cheap as they may be smart.
Years went by? They were literally in the Finals like 7 months ago.

I think this would be buying high. I wouldn't bet on him ever being healthy again.

Depending on where they end up in the seeding, that could very well be the case.
They have a great roster when healthy, but I'm not sure how you expect Kyrie and AD to remain healthy for the entirety of the playoffs. I'm also not sure how you have enough offensively when your only playmakers are Kyrie and Dinwiddie. As good as AD is, he plays off of other people.

Kyrie can opt out at the end of this season.

So things are going about as expected in Dallas.
This sums up the trade perfectly. Never, in the history of sports, have fans set up a memorial at the arena, with casket included.

Thank you was too lazy to look it up. Kyrie I feel will go through a Jimmy Butler like phase in the future regardless, his days of wrecking seasons aren't over

Nico Harrison literally said he only talked with the Lakers.

Seems even shadier watching Nico discuss it but also that guy is a moron.
Whatever he’s getting out of this corrupt deal he’s not coming out ahead.
Nico’s legacy will be Luka with a side of Brunson.
Betting it all on Kyrie much less AD gtfo.
He could easily end up the most hated executive in the history of the sport and totally toxic to any potential employers.

Just wanna quote to get it on top of the next page. One of the strangest media interactions I've ever seen, and very telling.

He’s getting a sweet job for life at Nike or Klutch or the Lakers front office when Dallas bottoms out in 2028 and their first overall pick goes to OKC.

How does this rate on the Pau Gasol scale?

i just went back and looked.. Ray Allen was 27 and Gary Payton was 34 when we made that trade. And I specifically remember George Karl saying he made that trade because he thought we needed more defense.
I think this Luka trade might be the worst of all time. But, that Allen trade was REALLY, REALLY bad.

they are the premier pfs in the league.
both insanely good.
id take giannis handily.
however in some situations ADs range and IQ and non league leading usage may have better value to a team as it relates to winning
for example.... doncic is a better player and talent than AD. yet i believe that there is 100% absolutely no doubt that this year as constructed dallas will be immediately better. with kyrie they dont need another ball dominator and they massively improved defensively with the move. perhaps for dame hed improve with a partner like AD. stuff like this matters
I'm with you on this. Was just at the gym trying to explain to folks why I think Dallas is actually better today after this trade. I still would have wanted a lot more for Luka, though.
This is the thing. I do think Dallas is better right now than they were yesterday. The problem is they essentially traded for like a 2-year window. If you're trading a superstar you need to start a bidding war and come away with a lot more.

Re: ATL - Luka+ for AD+
i just want to point out that it continues to be strange that Bovada does not have a futures bet for Jimmy Butler destinations. They have one for Lavine and Milwaukee is still not even on the list.
