Re: Luka Doncic is now 270 pounds
If he is 270, you can bet this trade was a wake up call and when he's back, he won't be. So there's not much that's ever going to prove this besides someone getting him on a scale and televising it.

Even if he was, this trade is gonna hit him and he's gonna come back next season with Corey Maggette level body fat%.

Not sure how this is the conclusion when he’s injured and probably just haven’t been healthy enough to work out. But if this is true, then you get him help not trade him.
"I need a recovery beer." After recording a triple-double.
Michael Finley having to take a beer out of his hands after winning the West last year.
Dallas having concerns about his "conditioning."
It isn't just a "get him help" issue. It has to be acknowledged from within. If he doesn't feel he has a problem, he won't address it. Unless someone form the Mavs straight-up told him, "we traded you because you have an alcohol abuse issue and you need help and we don't think we could've helped you," it's a bit rough and if* they felt he wouldn't have listened, they figured they'd get something that fits their current team in return by not having to pay him a potential $300 million deal to miss half the season because his obsession with the game doesn't match his talent.
I guess we forget the Dirk/Nash/Cuban escapades of yore.
This is the most nonsense reason to trade a dude like this ever.

Yea if at 30 he's still not right, then I'm not wanting to give him a big max then, but now...
The thing is each man is different.
Honestly, Luka at 25 looks less fit than most 35+ years old NBA players including a 40+ years old like LeBron.
And he has already a long history of injuries.
While dropping a cool 33/9/8 otw to back to back WCF’s and the Finals lol.

Re: Luka Doncic is now 270 pounds
McMahon said that Luka in shape is around 250 and he came this season in the high 260s.
So it’s not like he wasn’t pretty much at 270 to start the season.
He should play at 250 like Lebron, but this isn’t some new info. It looks like he played at near 270 a lot in the past few years.

This 1000%. He’s gonna be in the best shape of his career after this trade and all this talk. Plus the respect him and Lebron have for each other he’s gonna feel like he has something to prove.

This. Can you imagine aa legend like Charles Barkley letting himself get so out of shape and self-satisfied that his team wanted to get rid of him?

You don't understand, the issue is not necessarily that it affects his game (though having a better conditioning would sure help him in defense at least) but more all the injuries that he can suffer because of it, especially playing in the most demanding position in basketball in term of conditioning (point guard)

Fair enough lol. But I wonder if Luka is dysfunctionally competitive enough to continue getting better or if he will be another Mbappe, who peaked in his early 20s when he reached the top and no longer felt like he had to prove he was a magician. Especially now that he's gunna be living in LA.

Meh
Body fat and body weight not really the same thing.
Muscular 250 pounds and Doughy 265 pounds are very far apart.
As the father of a two year old, I can attest how easy it is to put on weight after the birth of a little one. I went from a tight 185 pounds to a tubby 200 in the 3 months after my youngest son was born.
It's been hell trying to get back...

Pure nonsense. A guy can enjoy some beers and still be a top tier NBA player.
Bird got lit in the offseason and he wasn’t traded for a **** package.

True lol. I just wonder if Luka has gotten a little complacent since "making it" and proving that he might be the most gifted basketballer on the planet. LA can be a scary place for a wealthy celeb who's satisfied with what he's already accomplished.

But how long will it last?
I expect Luka to struggle with weight/body fat for the entirety of his career.
I suspect Lakers will be right back dealing with these same concerns around 2028.

I totally understand. He should take his body more seriously, and he possibly could go down as the GOAT if he did. But when an out of shape Luka is still dominating the league when healthy, you don’t trade that at 25 for maybe the worst, most shortsighted, moronic returns a superstar has ever gotten.
I mean they didn’t even get the ‘31 1st or Reaves lol, just wild.
Talked to 2 teams!

Huh? I don't care if Luka is ripped or sporting a beer belly, people over react to his body. I just thought the bolded was funny given how many players in the past let themselves go.
