They probably won’t win a title together. Also gonna be funny because the Lakers are going to be far more concerned with Luka’s happiness from this point on than LeBron’s.
It’s not like they cared about LeBron’s happiness anyway.
After they made his podcast buddy the coach, and gave his scrub ass son a 4 year guaranteed deal? Lmao.

I think we will find that the reports are pretty accurate. They didn't see Luka brining them a Ring, and they are concerned his work ethic isn't where they want it.
So they take a risk and bring in a win now player.
Long term LA very likely win this trade but the idea that they are doing it with no self interest is laughable.
Luka is immensely better as a win now player too though lmao

You are actually completely wrong in this regard. His case for having a jersey retired is comparable to Pau's, while superior to Silk Wilkes' or Goodrich's. All of those have their jerseys hanging in the rafters, so I have no doubts about it also in AD's case.
True accolades,stats a FMVP and a title.
He has a great chance at getting his jersey retired.
He's been a great laker. People forget how awful we were prior to lebron coming. We were in purgatory with no noticeable top end talent.
What FMVP? I wasn’t talking about LeBron. I’m talking about AD.
As for Pau, he won two chips, not one.

Re: The LeBron James and Luka Doncic - 24-25 Thread
I don't get why people in here think the Lakers snaked LeBron.
No sane person on the planet would turn down a chance to land Luka.
If they pull off a move and land a valuable front-court player, I see no reason why they're not contenders this year.
LeBron's about to play with the best offensive player he's ever played with and both of them are incredibly high IQ players on offense. LeBron is still very good. He just destroyed the Knicks last night and seems to be rolling lately.
The defense is a concern, but Luka might even whip himself into shape more seeing LeBron up close and his guidance + being pissed at being traded.

Jokic, Giannis and AD are the only players Dallas could’ve traded Luka for and not gotten worse right now considering Lively is injured.

The Lakers will retire his jersey if he makes the HOF, which is pretty much a foregone conclusion.

They got way worse trading for AD. They aren’t going to sniff a deep playoff or finals run without Luka. The only logical thing to trade Luka for is a boatload of picks and young players.
His work ethic is bad, so we’ll trade him for an injury prone, 32 year old who hasn’t been top 5 in MVP in almost a decade, and has never led a team on any deep runs or top seeds as a number 1 option, to pair with another 32 year old injury prone flake who is an even bigger failure as a #1 option.
It doesn’t make any sense from a now or future standpoint, people need to stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room and pretending it’s logical. The Mavs dramatically lowered their ceiling and floor at the same time.

Him and Luka is maybe the worst basketball pairing I can think of in terms of on court skillsets, and LeBron is clearly not a very good player at this point. The Lakers made this trade for the next 7+ years of prime Luka, but they're going to suck this year. They have no intention of LeBron being part of their Luka plan now, and I can't blame them. Love the guy, but he's not worth it any more.
Do you even watch basketball?
He’s been a negative impact player this year. Sure he can have throwback moments, but he’s no longer an All-NBA level player.
He’s not good enough for a team to cater to his needs anymore. This move allows the Lakers to be in charge again, because before this year, LeBron was still good enough to warrant that and there were no better options available. Both are no longer true.
The LeBron threads are notorious for LeBron hero worship and for pretending he’s God’s gift to basketball and can do no wrong, and everything that goes wrong is someone else’s fault. Your post still confirms that.
He can be the GOAT and still have flaws, especially as an older player now.

The Lakers likely didn't improve for now but transitioned from Lebron, and also AD, era to the next star Doncic. They are the number one franchise in nba history and again pulled the strings to stay that way, good or bad. Don't see Lebron and Doncic fitting together but Lebron is on his way out. Dallas is likely good for this season but AD is a walking broken individual who will likely miss much more time with injury and might even retire in three years.

Speaking as a Nets fan, Claxton is obviously disgruntled as part of a losing team right now, but this is a guy who imo was a legit DPOY candidate not that long ago when he was with KD/Kyrie/Harden. He would be kind of a perfect low cost player to replace a lot of what they’re losing on defense with AD. Pretty sure the Nets would be down to move him too if it means accumulating more draft compensation.

I watch a lot of basketball, and not just Lakers games. But my interest in basketball has waned recently, if I’m being honest, at least in the regular season, so I don’t obsessively watch like I used to.
Not sure what part of my post is inaccurate though.
Is LeBron still an All-NBA level player? What evidence is there for that? Is he still good enough for a franchise to cater to him? What evidence is there for that?
Do him and Luka work as an on court pairing? Again, where is the evidence for that? Are the Lakers still going to be good this year without any sort of interior defensive presence and without their best overall player?
And if you think this move doesn’t shift the power dynamic back to the Lakers front office from LeBron’s hands, then I think that’s just not reality. They have a younger, better star now. They don’t need LeBron nearly as much now that they have Luka.
We can debate if they’ve really had his best interests in mind, but let’s remember that they made the AD trade (good), and also stripped the championship team of all its good role players to then pair LeBron up with his buddies as well as move on from the head coach that just won, in part to keep him happy (bad), drafted his son and hired a head coach hand picked by LeBron (TBD). They’ve at least taken his opinion into account far more than other franchise players around the league.

The Lakers sure did a good job when they were in charge for half a decade before big meanie LeBron showed up.

Not really making a comment about whether LeGM was good or bad for the Lakers...again, not sure why the posters in this thread get so super defensive any time someone MIGHT make a comment that's negative about him.
But it's clear that he DID have some input/control over the front office decision-making since he showed up, and I think the Lakers front office put up with it in part because he was still a good enough player to warrant that and they didn't have better options available. He was also still a massive box office draw.
Currently, the first two are no longer true, and as far as being a box office draw, we're talking about the Lakers here, that part was always the least important...and Luka is a big box office attraction himself.
