Look out Spurs are comin' for y'all -- yeah that means you OKC, Houston, and LAL.

Will be neat to see how good the Spurs can be this year, and just the things they're going to be able to do offensively. Maybe Fox's defense can come back a bit.

Spurs just need one more dynamic player at hybrid forward (not necessarily a Kawhi replacement, but someone with SF/PF-size), and then they're good to go basically for main guys around Wemby.. but not yet, and still need some better, consistent shooters to emerge. Castle being an all-star-level player will be important.. even if its like an Iguodala type who can step up as needed.

The Spurs would do well to try to avoid the play in and get a top 10 pick. If they do this, they will have two chances in the lottery to get into the top 5 with the Hawks pick. This would put them in a major position to really put themselves into an OKC tier in terms of talent/futures.

My guess is that they have a ~25% chance of getting a top 4 pick

no other than Flagg who’s looks good ?

Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper at a minimum. I think having 2 top 10 picks would allow them to get into the top 3 if they wanted to. Otherwise, there’s good players in every draft and adding 2 top 10 picks going after roster construction needs puts them in a position to have an insane amount of talent

Polar opposites! Sac gets a worthless Lavine that Chicago was desperate to unload while Spurs get AS Fox for peanuts. No real players added and worse picks.

SAS and OKC are scary bunch!

Lol Lavine actually playing better than Fox this year.

My dude, you just recreated the 2024 Chicago Bulls.

The one season they were healthy they were the 1 seed halfway thru the year and a playoff team. LaVine and Lonzo were never healthy after that.

one of the worst takes I've ever seen on here. Congrats

You got 2x FRPs, 4x SRPs, and a broken down vet for a top-30 player.

The Mavs got 1x FRP and a better broken down vet for a top-5 player (they also gave up a SRP though).

The Kings return is objectively much better relative to the value of the outgoing player.

You forgot about Max Christie.

But also I think having 2 top 10 picks probably allows them to get a top 3 pick if they want and really like a player. Imagine if they add Flagg or Ace Bailey.

Fox-Castle-Vassel-Sochan-Wemby with Ace Bailey/Keldon Johnson/etc off the bench.

Or

Fox/Castle/Vassell/Flagg/Wemby.

In either case, the Spurs do need more talent in their rotation and even having 2 top 10 picks to add skillsets you are missing and then time that with rookie contracts for Castle, Wemby, and those picks would be insane

A worthless third tier prospect. But sure, we can say he has the same value as a SRP.

It's tricky balance to tank, Victor's too good, while Fox can technically be send off to surgery on his offhand (can wait until offseason).
We've lost one important method of being ass, which was just letting Zach Collins play.

We brought CP3 along with understanding that we will compete and just see how it goes - and honestly i'd rather do just that - it just feels better that way.
With recent Johnson injury in Atlanta we might be getting lottery pick anyway- and that's despite tanking in the east being more difficult than making the playoffs.
When the individual feels, the community reels.

Flagg? Spurs have like a ~5% chance of getting the first overall pick I think they could get the 2nd overall pick if they trade their 10-11th pick

Why do Sac and CHI do this? To get picks or something cuz they're gonna rebuild?

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Why? Because they got Lavine instead of Vassell? They still got future assets in 2 unprotected FRPs, 5 SRPs and cap flex/$16.8 TPE...

Feels light for Sacramento.

- LaVine is considered bad value on his contract.
- 2025 first will likely not convert and become two second rounders.
- 2027 spurs pick will likely not be very good with Wemby, Fox and young supporting cast almost certainly being a playoff roster
- that leaves the 2031 Minnesota pick which is more of a wild card because it's so far into the future.
- and then a bunch of second rounders

Great deal for the spurs, risky for Sacramento imo.

Feels light but considering Fox wasn't going to re-sign with the Kings and the Kings were put in a bad situation it''s about as good as one could realistically expect.

no one is going to accept 3 1st top 10 picks for Flagg, unless you're an idiot.

Spurs dominate the trade in terms of value. Fox fits great in theory with Wemby and they didn’t give up any of their better prospects but they gave up 1 valuable 1st (Minny 31 1st).

I actually think Sacramento won as well in terms of their goals for the trade. They wanted a win now player which they got in Lavine and they got that valuable 31 Minny 1st and some lesser picks. Honestly won’t be surprised if the Kings improve as it also opens up more on-ball opportunities for Monk who is having a career year and gives Devin Carter and Keon Ellis more playing time. I don’t think they’re done either and can see them move on from DeMar with one of their picks.

Chicago got the least value imo. Lavine is having a career year and has largely been healthy outside of last season. The players received are essentially filler contracts and they just got their pick back which gives them incentive to tank the last 30 games when they’ve actually been decent with Lavine.

I think they got their own pick back from the Spurs.

It was top 10 protected this year, top 8 next year.

We waited 50 games to secure the tank and brought in Huerter and Zach Collins to run it.

I can't mentally prepare myself for 32mpg of THT even though I know it needs to be done.

Jeez, the NBA went wacko the last 2 days. Not a shock that Fox was traded but still....

This really sucks for Sacramento, I hate seeing the small markets getting burned like this.

Amazing that the Lakers get Luka and Wemby gets Fox without him team having to mortgage much of anything. Funny how this league works sometimes but.... I digress.
Good for the Spurs either way, just funny how things seem to work out for certain organizations over and over again.
