Man, there is such a gratuitous hold by the NT on the double-team block around the 5:45 mark. Literally just hauls the OG around by his jersey to free up Bolton to make the tackle. Granted it's inside, but that has to be called.

Not that this is a topic I pay attention to, but there just seems to be a lot of criticism lately about how Chiefs games are officiated from fans and somr members of the media.

What struck me about Warner's recent comments about Saleh coming back was his experience with Saleh the last time. He spoke about Saleh's ability to make adjustmentd and how could things on the fly.

To my eyes, and I'm admittedly biased, the Chiefs are not officiated the way other teams are. They get lots of calls that go their way, especially crucial calls that involve Mahomes. At the same time, they probably hold worse than any other team in the league, but are almost never called there. Now, there's a caveat. Last year in the regular season, their OTs were penalized a lot for holding. But I don't believe they drew any holding penalties in the playoffs despite continuing to hold CONSTANTLY. I'm fairly certain they are coached to do so. If you are going to let a team mitigate their biggest weakness through blatant uncalled penalties, while simultaneously give them any call whatsoever that involves their QB - who flops and fake slides in fairly unprecedented fashion - then they're going to be hard to beat. Especially with that D.

I think of a couple plays that really seal it for me. In the first SB, Kittle broke that huge play toward the end of the first half. We get flagged for a push-off. Did he push off? Yeah, probably, but it was a close call. Then on that crucial 3rd and like 25, Bosa just gets dragged down by the OT. No call. This past SB - which I don't blame on officiating, because we really should have won it even with the officiating - we were called for holds twice in the run game. But again on a crucial third and long, Mahomes fled the pocket, and Hargrave was literally being held around the waist from behind by the OL giving Mahomes the edge, and there was no call.

You just can't have fair games if things that are that blatant go uncalled. The hold I cited above is less egregious - at least in terms of the no-call. It's very obviously a hold, but the hands were inside the body and it happened on the interior. That sort of thing goes uncalled a lot.

I hate the flopping. Russell Wilson did that in Seattle. He would appear to be starting a slide but then keeps going. One game one of the 49ers players was flagged for a late hit on Wilson which wasnt aggrecious based on Wilson's fakes

Watching this video on the Chiefs defense made me a little jealous.

I really hope that report that the 9ers want the defense to innovate and be a little more exotic wasn't just coach speak and actually true.

Lining up and relying on being more talented on defense just does not work in today's NFL. I'd say offense in general is the smartest it's been probably ever so you really have to be able to stress offenses mentally or you'll get quickly get carved up and outschemed like we saw with our defense this season.

They should call it more but they won't and it's been a complaint by offensive linemen for years. I remember they always complained about Justin Smith holding guys back in the day. Honestly though holding occurs every play all the time by both sides it's just only the blatant holds by the offense that usually get called.

Lack of adjustments is one of the major things that doomed Sorensen. The other being he could never solve the 3rd down defense.

But overall we actually weren't bad in the 1st half of games so it seems Sorensen was at least decent in planning leading up to the game but it was pretty clear he was almost always a step behind the opposing playcaller during the game as we were terrible in the 4th quarter of games.

Saleh at least has proven he's good at making adjustments as the game goes on and I highly doubt under him we'll see the motion to a bunch formation destroy our defense over and over again under his watch.

And hopefully as I mentioned in an earlier post that they are serious about innovation on defense and not only that but to instill the fundamentals back into the defense so we see cleaner execution across the board.

Read on Twitter

*BEHIND* the line of scrimmage.

For those folks that try to argue YAC to detract from a QB's performance, Its funny how YAC isn't used to deter Mahomes' performance. Especially since he's always right at the top of those numbers....

On a semi-related note, this reflects how much Kyle needs to work on his screen design/calling/execution.

Myles Garrett requests a trade out of Cleveland.

Lynch absolutely has to make that call, but its extremely unlikely Garrett is going to land in Frisco.

I have no doubts the 9ers will be serious about a trade but hard to see it happening because Garrett is likely going to want a new contract and it's hard to imagine the 9ers paying top dollar to two edge rushers.

Though if he doesn't want a new contract right away I do see them being very much in the mix especially if Garrett is serious about just going to a contender.

We own the highest pick for teams that would be legit contenders and we're in the NFC so that would be attractive to the Browns.

Maybe something like two 1sts and Deebo would maybe be about right. Deebo gives us a bit of a salary dump and gives the Browns a player that can contribute to them right away and who fits the system.

I wouldn't do anymore than that though as amazing Garrett is he is 29 and will require a huge extension at some point.

AJ Brown got the Kittle treatment with that OPI. Not a call to help the NFLs case that the refs aren't biased.
