As much of a great trade this is for the lakers, can we stop saying Luka is 25, and AD is 32. Luka turns 26 before AD turns 32.

Luka's 6 years younger - he turns 26 at the end of the month, Davis turns 32 in a couple months.
The Lakers getting Luka is the equivalent to getting Anthony Davis in February of 2019.

Re: Luka AD trade thread Part II
One of the most shocking and unexpected trade of all time. Trading Luka away is bad enough, made worse by the fact they weren't even prepared to listen to other offers and see what else they could have gotten. AD himself is a risk, with his age and durability concerns, the infatuation is baffling.
For the Lakers, must have been a dream come true to be offered Luka and only had to give up an aging AD and 1 FRP. They've got a franchise player to build around once Lebron's done.

I think the Mavs will have the best defense in the league. They will be huge playing PJ Washington-Davis-Gafford/Lively and can afford to play extremely physical because of their big man depth. I think AD cutting off drives up at the level and Gafford/Lively behind him will be insane. I think they will generate a ton of turnovers, second chance points, and give up very few second chance points themselves.
In addition to this, they have a ton of shooting and spacing between Kyrie, Klay, Washington, Christie, and Grimes. Both Kyrie and AD can score in the middle of the floor as well.
They are one piece away from really having everything they need. They need another perimeter ball handler who can create advantages against set half court defenses. Dinwiddie/Hardy/Exum are not good enough.
I am really surprised they weren’t able to get Reaves back. If they did, this trade makes a lot more sense although still would be dumb. That being said, I think they will be able to find a player who can fit this mold with their depth and draft capital.
If I were the Mavs I would take a swing at an Ingram or a Jimmy. Honestly, even a player like Jordan Poole would really make them formidable.
Lol

I have another theory. Nico pulled this trade off to distract us from the real news. The hellfire that's been unleashed unto the world.

It's so crazy because every contender would have jumped on the possibility of snagging Luka.
Thunder had a treasure trove of draft picks and a ton of young prospects. Dallas could have easily got Jalen Williams/Chet, Dort, another young prospect and 4-5 first rounders.
Houston had a ton of young prospects and could have packaged Jalen Green, Thompson, Brooks and a bunch of 1sts.
Heck, Boston would have jumped on this and given up Jalen Brown, Derrick White and a bunch of 1sts.

Except the fact Luka is on another level than AD ever was.
Maybe Luka should take better care of his body. But he just carried Mavs to a finals apperance, hurt and banged up. Played 92 games. 5x all NBA 1st team in consecutive seasons. Just a generational talent, a consensus top-3 player in the league at the end of last season. You just don't trade a player like that, unless you GM is either braindead or something fishy is happening.

Maaan ... I actually feel bad for these fans in the videos
Not ones crying for the camera and the likes/bs social media virality but in some you see just children lose their souls upon finding out their hero was traded.

Someone wrote this on Mavs reddit it is funny and so cruel at the same time lol.
You have one of the best ball players in the world who loves your city, wants to spend the rest of his career here and is involved in the community and you trade him away and call him fat.

I'm more shocked that people are writing off a team with Luka and LeBron.
Like they saying the Lakers in rebuild mode for the next 2-3 years. ESPN is horrible!
This team as is will make the playoffs. If they add a legit center they could win the West. It's really that simple.

Yeah, let's evaluate this team once the trade deadline passes. They're clearly going to trade for a centre. And even if they don't, they still have a few switcheable, physical guards and forwards:
guards: Doncic, Reaves, Vincent
forwards: James, DFS, Hachimura, Vanderbilt,
centres: Hayes, Wood, Kaloko
Sure, they're small. But they also have LeBron freaking James and Luka effin' Doncic. They're always going to have one of those two + Reaves on the court at all times. Let that sink in.

Zach Lowe just went online and he said: he checked with every team that's been rumored to have talked to them, and he's confirmed none of them received a call.
It's totally made up.
He traded him to his friend. Plain and simple. For what reason, who knows. But he traded a superstar to his beast friend for a 31 year old injury prone and inconsistently motivated star.
