Haha it all leads back to the other topic sadly, even this one. Reassess getting better depending on your confidence level in the draft pick. Until then, sell to accumulate all the assets possible for your actual contention window.
damm tsherkin was right all along
I think it’s just rise wash, repeat and create a wider net of assets.
Masai traded siakam for flexibility.
Turn 1 brown and a 3rd year former (kinda) failed top prospect into another brown (wiggins) and assets worth significantly more then acbaji was worth last year.
Acbaji looks like an easy sell to contenders- young, team oriented, potential to be an elite role player. Can contribute right away, won’t cost an arm and a leg to resign.
He’d look good starting next to adebayo. I mean he’s essentially a poor man’s young jimmy butler. — ex that: acbaji has way better pedigree than young former 2nd round pick jimmy.
But I could see us turning brown and acbaji into wiggins, a protected first, Jovic and a couple second rounders. (For example).
Repeat the process with wiggins 12 - 18 months later.
Rudy Gay trade 2.0
Ps: on paper acbaji makes sense as our starting 3 — perhaps he overlaps with rj and Scottie too much and he would be better served elsewhere — like being pat Riley’s starting small forward.
If you think Acbaji is a solid young 3 and d wing(poor man' Butler), why not keep him for ourselves and say move empty calories Barret who would cost twice as much? Also, Boucher usually has one good year(contract year) and getting old quick, must sell, even for a 2nd.I would keep Mitchell and Brown if the price is right and there are no takers for Brown. There is 2 goals at this trade deadline, sell vets to tank even further and collect young defence oriented team players for the future.
