A pissed off Jimmy demanding a trade to Phoenix after opting in seems like worst case scenario in the summer when Giannis may be asking out.

Am legitimately asking to be clear!

I don't think anyone knows what is going on in Jimmy's head right now. Probably just trying to poison the well on every trade destination until he gets to Phoenix somehow, even if that's not a rational plan.

"Pick a direction" challenge. Is the title window closed and we should prep for an inevitable Giannis exit?

Khris + Bobby + Pat + Marjon for Beal + 2-3 firsts and a prospect (Oso, Dunn, Jacquez, Jovic) to facilitate a Jimmy trade. Then tear it down in the offseason with a Dame for picks/prospects trade and wait for Giannis to ask out (Horst better be fired in this case and a new GM brought in to maximize the Giannis return package). Maximize your future assets but punt on the Giannis era forever.

Do we still want a puncher's chance at a deep playoff run this season and then re-tool or blow it up in the offseason?

Take Jimmy for ourselves, then a lesser transaction for a backup rotation big (or included in the Jimmy trade). Only two realistic options I see (with slight variations on the former). You guys can have at it, but I'm just not buying any of these two-timelines/completely rebuild while keeping Giannis fantasy scenarios. It's one or the other cuz that's how the NBA works.

We've held onto Khris, Bobby, Brook, Pat for so long because they're Giannis' boys that he came into his own with, guys he can go ride roller coasters in the offseason and spot him during workouts. If a shakeup is needed to keep him happy, guys will go and new guys will take their place. These guys can act all Pikachu surprised face when things happen (lol at LeBron/AD) but guys this caliber know exactly what is happening and have been pulling the strings as much as anyone. If Giannis wants to play this cat and mouse win or I leave game he needs to take a look at himself and figure out who he wants next to him, because everything runs through him. If not, we'll get every draft pick some team owns, and piece out the rest.

That trades like the one for Bogdan get blown up and trades like this happen is whack. Just take some picks as a penalty/fine the Bucks but that should have went thru.

Wonder if there are a bunch of 10-15 mil guys we can sign. Beal and Jimmy at like 50-60-70 mil isnt going to help us. Especially the 2 next years. Our Cap has be unfathomable.

Right now trading Khris at $34 for 2 guys at $17 mil could help us. I just dont know who takes him.

The trade deadline makes this family more volatile than the Thanksgiving table in an election year.

Yes and it's time for us, the owners and the organization to acknowledge it. When we traded away every asset in pursuit of a championship, we all knew this day would come. We won one but its time to sober up.

What if I told you there might be available a 23-year old Swiss army knife, 6-8" athletic lockdown forward along with a 30-year old PG with a ring, who is starting and playing 35mpg for a West team with a 32-16 record? And maybe just maybe these two players could be acquired for Dame Lillard.

Is that something you might be interested in?

Rafael Stone would be proud of this kind of spin.

No different than spinning a top 75 player averaging a 25/4.6/7.3 who is 34 years old and seems incapable of dribbling the ball up court under pressure or setting up his teammates. The Dame asset is going to keep depreciating by the month.

When you have Giannis, you're never more than one great move away. One thing about this Horst FO, though, is that while they've been consistently aggressive in pursuing the guys they want, the guys they want always seem to be established guys you have to pay full freight to bring in. The key to making the 'next Giannis phase' work has to be identifying guys who will become established through their role alongside Giannis. There has to be some willingness to risk beyond the opportunity cost incurred by spending all our assets.

Whatever trades the Bucks make or even trades proposed on here should take into account:

AJ Green is the only young guy who is trustworthy in a playoff rotation this season. It's still to be determined in my mind whether Rollins or Jackson have a future with the Bucks.

Whoever stated that the Bucks biggest need are guards who can stop penetration is 100% correct.

I don't think Dame's problem is getting assists. He's pretty good at that. It would be nice if he didn't have to keep dribbling the ball up the court under pressure.

fan230 wrote:I see our fundamental problem to be this: inability of our guards to be lockdown point of attack defenders.

We are losing therefore to every team that has quick, agile attacking guards who beat our poa defenders again and again and again.

We are playing Dame for his star offense because we have only Giannis left who is the superstar offensive player. Dame is leaving a big hole in the poa defense even though his offense is good.

None of the other guards or even sf s is a consistently good poa defender.

Lumbering wings like Crowder was a bad choice last year.

At this point we need agile poa defenders more than anything else.

Blaming Brook for getting beaten by quick guards at the poa spots is completely a misplaced thing to do.

In the next few days, Horst should try to get 2 good poa defending guards.

Simultaneously, Doc must try Tyler Smith, Livingston and AJ Johnson to see if any or aal of them can be good poa defenders. This is CRUCIAL to test out starting Today, not later.

That’s all I have to say now.
Your forgetting about the rebounding problem as well. Giving up offensive rebounds at key moments and being almost dead last in getting them as well.

And you said the same thing the first month of the season where you guys would have been happy to ship his ass off for Cam Johnson and Dennis Schroder (whoops). I find the idea that Dame's value is gonna crater between now and June to be pretty funny and unlikely. Like, he was "toast" as a 2nd-tier star guy until the playoffs rolled around and he put up a casual 31/5 on 64% TS. If that deal is on the table now, then short of an ACL or Achilles tear, it'll be available 3-4 months from now (probably even more so once Houston gets knocked out in the 1st-2nd round).

I wish people would get the trade ideas straight rather than straw manning stuff. At zero point did I ever want to deal Dame for that mess. Here are the Dame deals I've posted. If you guys find more I've forgotten, happy to discuss.

Last June - To Miami for Herro, Jovic and Jacquez
December - To Houston for FVV and Tari Eason
Last month - To Sacramento for Fox and Keegan

This road trip has made it clear that upgrading the front court is a much higher priority than improving on Khris (though that would be nice too).

Bucks out: Brook, Pat, Wright, 2031 first
Bucks in: Nic Claxton

Lakers out: Rui, Vincent, Bronny, 2031 protected first
Lakers in: Brook, Beasley

Nets out: Claxton, future 2nd
Nets in : Rui, Pat, Bucks first, Lakers first

Pistons out: Beasley
Pistons in: Vincent, Bronny, Wright, Nets future 2nd

There are some big surplus in the league right now.

Obviously one of them is Dallas, & we could be the team that trades for Gafford, to replace Brook in the SL. Maybe Brook & a 2nd/Smith or Bobby/Pat/2nd in a 3-way deal goes out in that. Gets us under the apron as a bonus.

Then IDK if Dallas is going to want to play Washington at the 3. He'd solve a lot of our problems & is actually boarding this yr. I'd be willing to throw in a moderately protected (top 10) 2031 1st or maybe AJJo for him. Still only 26 & has some on ball talent.

The simple one is just Reath for Marjon or something to that effect. Simply having a 4th big on the roster has benefit, as we've seen. Heck, if you called up Ellenson or Badji it'd have utility. If Robbins isn't playable then got to rescind his 2-way.

Biggest reason I wanted no part of Nick Nurse is that he would have run our old roster into the ground, but turns out Doc is doing a pretty bang-up job there himself:

Dame: 36.5 MPG (7th in the league)
Giannis: 34.9 MPG
Brook: 32.1 MPG (most since 2016)

There's no other player over the age of 29 that's averaging as many minutes as Dame (Kyrie and KD are tied at 14th as the closest). While 36-year old Brook is being tasked to carry a greater load than starting Centers 8-10 years younger than him (Myles Turner, Jarrett Allen, Hartenstein, etc.).

Spare me the "both guys are washed" stuff when these guys are simply gassed from the absurd minutes load. At the very least just get a couple competent backups at PG and C rather than declaring that you can't tweak a roster around Dame and Giannis into a top contender.

Ugh.

Kuzma is 29 and his stats are taking a fall this year. This is exactly the age a guy like Kuzma starts to fall apart (see Pat C.)
