I hope that was tongue in cheek. After the fireworks have died down, I don't know if this makes the Lakers a better team short term, and long term it's gonna make it harder to build around luka because of their lack of draft capital.

The Lakers are as far ahead of the Warriors in the standings as the Warriors are ahead of the Trailblazers, who are on an upward trajectory while we're stuck in purgatory. We could actually end the season below the Trailblazers, that's how dire it is. Although at this point, it'd probably be for the best.

Lakers may not have cap room or draft capital, but they always have a lot of Silver to spend.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

when you have a player like Luka (and you're LA) you don't need draft picks to win rings

Laker privilege strikes again.

Watch em get a rim protecting center for peanuts next.

That said, I think SAS has come out the best so far with these trades.

Luka took that dallas 22 team to the wcf with

Brunson
Bullock
Dinwiddie
DFS
Josh Green
Maxi Kleber
Dwight Powell

Yall really sleeping on Luka, think the Lakers will be fine with

Luka
Lebron
Reaves
Rui
DFS
Vanderbilt
Knecht
Gabe Vincent
Maxi
then if they go get Robert Williams and find someone who can play poa defense (probably get Bruce Brown in the buyout market). Who is stopping Luka and lebron? They're **** huge on the wings. OKC is tiny. Memphis is tiny at the guards. Hou is tiny at the guards. Maybe the Mavs, but good luck stopping revenge tour Luka.

Welcome to the new CBA. Mavs moved Luka because he will be the highest paid player next. He is constantly out with injuries, costing the team wins. And with a salary like that, that will drag down the team for years. He is young and Top 5, right now.

Then there is Curry. Highest paid player in the league. Missing so many games with rest. And now not even producing at top 5 level. Curry can't be fixed, unlike Luka.

You can be a Curry fan and should be happy with a 500 team until he retires. This is Kobe and his salary story on repeat. If Curry and current team is contenting, great. But it is not!

With new CBA, teams are not spending like they used to. If Luka has been dumped, Curry should be on the list if improving and winning is 1st priority.

Good post.

Rob Pelinka, Nico Harrison, and Jeanie Buss have professionally interacted with each other for mutiple decades (Agency, Adidas, Nike, Kobe, Lakers) and demonstrated in this trade how the Lakers were able to achieve what they wanted, to reset the franchise by acquiring a younger and marquee talent; and how the Mavericks were able to acquire a big-man who they can pair with Irving and not force him to play a position, center, which he is uncomfortable playing, too.

Unfortunately, for the Warriors, the reset should have occurred two seasons ago. Will the Warriors either swing big (Butler, Zion, Greek Freak) or stand pat with what they are with their current roster?
