They had a guard that could stop penetration. He didn’t do them much good either.

I was just saying a few days ago since the talked about targets were all not that great and felt a bit forced that it wouldn't be bad to hold tight and wait for KD to ask out next summer. Happening a bit sooner than I thought. IF there's a way to get him for Middleton while keeping Dame you have to do it. But KD is still good enough that someone would trump anything we could offer, unless he pushes to go here as a legit chance at ring. I get the vibe he cares more about location/living than a ring at this point though so we probably wouldn't be on his list.

So then you're at Dame for KD. Still probably have to do it, depending on what is needed around it.

How did they get fleeced? Fox pressured his way out, he's not a superstar, & they still got 3 1sts, 3 2nds, & an all-star who's actually a decent fit w/ them if they get rid of DeRozan before the deadline too.

I'm actually surprised how well they did.

Could this be a Jimmy for Durant trade? Or is it known they want to play together.

It's much more likely that Butler goes to Phoenix now in exchange for Durant, with Miami having to give up a few more assets.

LaVine went for a 1st (removed all the protections) and no long term salary. That’s what Chicago needed to tank and rebuild. That’s far from nothing.

Disagree. They already had the pick. They just got the protection taken off and it probably won't mean much anyway.

The point is they gave him away, because no one was willing to give them anything of value.

Yes, they will be in tank mode, but if they could have gotten a few young pieces, they would have done it.

I made a pessimistic joke on this too, with Miamis luck this situation will shake out and they'll end up with KD out of it rather than Beal/trash, and then go on a run in the playoffs.

One guard can't stop penetration by themselves. The other team will just hunt swicthes.

But I'd rather have one stopper than none. When Dame and Trent are on the court together, guess what the opposing coach says in the huddle.

If you can’t stop them, then try to out score them.

Don't see a way around not including Dame in a Durant trade, but at long last, even at 36, KD is a guy who you can both A) envision as an equal talent exchange with Dame, and B) someone you can easily sell to Giannis for this next 2-year window. I mean, it's a tough needle to thread (you'd still need to somehow turn Khris and Bobby into a starting caliber PG and an athletic, defensive PF/C), but it wouldn't even be the 2nd craziest trade to happen this deadline.

I wonder if Giannis' post-game comments endorsing leaving when a player feels like they can't contend prompts a major move, ala when he publicly inkled players (like Jrue) weren't as bought in as him.

Regardless, it's not a rational concern they do nothing, cuz they see the issues we do. Last yr we saw the POA d issue & they added Bev, even if unideal. He started & who knows if it'd have been enough w/ core health. We still have that potential core.

So much of the playoffs then are about who has the core and matches up w/ role players. We've gotten the hard regular season lesson we don't match up w/ a # of teams.

I'm still at

Dame, GTJ to Miami for Butler, Ware, with Miami paying to send Pat to a 3rd team.

Then Bobby and Delon to Atlanta in a 4 team deal, Bobby assets (Nance landing on unknown 4th team) and our 1st to Pelicans, Herb Jones to Lakers, Austin Reaves is our new PG.

That's a big overpay for Jimmy IMO

Dame to Houston, picks to Phoenix, KD to the Bucks?

No need for an actual point guard if KD or Giannis will be initiating the offense.

We might have a .05% chance at KD but I'd give up Dame and the 31 1st (lottery protected) for him and another asset if needed. KD and Giannis partnered up with Midds either getting shipped out with Brook for some youth would be fun. But if we got KD and kept all our old guys we would be the oldest team in the league by like 3 years lol

I think other pieces needed but this passes the espn trade machine

MIA Midds, Lopez
PHX Butler, Highsmith
HOU Dame, Pat, Marjon
MKE Durant, Adams, FVV, Eason

Just for fun

FVV, AJJ, Wright
Green, Ajax
Eason, Trent
Durant, Bobby
Giannis, Adams

I’d look to see if Bobby plus Adams could net you an athletic defensive 5 upgrade (over Adams)

Smash accept if offered IMO. Picks would have to be involved but seems like everyone wins. Miami wouldn't have much need for Brook or Midds though I less they flip them

So basically it means they have given up trying to trade Beal.

Wow.

So much chaos.

Come on Horst. Wait like a cat in the night listening for tiny prancing feet.

You’d probably have to also ship out Bobby because he could net a pick or two to send to the Suns or maybe they’d want him themselves.

You’d also likely need to trade 2031 for multiple firsts to send to the Suns so they can feel good about getting multiple picks.

Dame would have to go to another team because the Suns don’t need another ball dominant guard but Houston or Orlando would likely be in on Dame.

Is there a mobile big on a bad long term contract that a team would give up for Brook and Midds just to get out from the deal early? Claxton? Capella?

Yeah, this would be the trade even if Adams is a walking corpse at this point. Easily.
