Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
Connaughton for Cody works in the trade machine, but he has a player option next year so don't love doing a move for the worse contract. They also only have 1 tradeable second round pick, out in 2031, so I don't love that angle either.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
Trading Cody for a nobody and almost worthless second is exactly the type of trade this team would do

What would be an acceptable yield for Cody?

In every trade we've made under the new group, we've gotten a younger player and draft capital. Technically Grant Williams is only a few months younger than PJ, but the point still kinda stands there.
Trading for an older player who is at the stage in his career where he won't improve just for a single second is not something we have done under the new group.

Not trading him if this is the return

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
We can get an equal or better return for Cody as an expiring next year if that's the best offer we get. Pass

Mannix reporting if the Suns can't land Butler they will look to deal Durant.
Seems like the owners are sending a heavy message to the players you're no longer running things. Crazy trade deadline if true.

Well, there’s a time to go for it, and a time to cut bait/retool. I’m not convinced Phoenix can do that much even with Butler, but clearly they are at a crossroads. Butler wants to go there.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

If they listening to offers for KD you gotta think Booker is also available for the right price. Makes no sense to steal keep Booker and Beal if you trade KD.
I love Miller but if we could get Booker for Miller/picks I would consider it.

if Cody really wanted it, I wouldn't mind trading him to a competitor. He needs a Caleb style showing in a playoff game to secure another contract.
I don't expect to gain much, but it won't cost anything either

yeah it makes sense, Butler is their attempt to win it all. If that can't happen, you might as well cash in on Durant and look to the next build

Trolling Kemba here by being so benevolent as to send him off into the sunshine so we can give Daquan Jeffries more PT

Cody isn’t going anywhere. The boardwalk at Myrtle Beach is too enticing.

Kemba didn't want to go, but yeah I regret not letting him getting his fame when he was peaking

Bringing in Kuz does suggest that perhaps Portis is more available than he was before this trade.

Re: 2025 Trade Deadline Thread
The athletic's trade board (https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6110859/2025/02/05/nba-trade-deadline-jimmy-butler-julius-randle/) lists the Hornets (amongst others) as "best fits" for Bones Hyland, Jaden Springer and Brandon Ingram. Ingram as a player seems a pretty good fit, but the contract situation is too worrisome for me. Springer and Hyland are probably better than guys on the main roster right now, but unsure of what it would cost to kick their tires.
Also mentions Micic is thought to be available.
